I can't say I was expecting anything like that! Well done Marnoff, VARG and Badlok for predicting a KO.
Im not going to lie, kinda sad over this one. Williams is a helluva guy and also one of the purest warriors in the sport, always ready and willing to fight anyone, and to give the fans their moneys worth. He really wanted this one badly, and it couldnt have gone much worse. I really felt for him tonight. On the other hand, for every low there is a high, and Williams's low was Martinez's high, and in that regard, I couldnt be happier for him, he deserves this. Kinda a bittersweet night for me. My thoughts are with Williams and hope he is ok.
Yea, I know what you mean Kirk. Paul is a nice guy out of the ring and he is a true warrior inside the ring. You just hate to see devestating KO's like that to good guys like PTP. Then you got all these trolls starting threads saying he has a "glass jaw" and "was never that good anyway" and what not. Hopefully, Paul Williams can get back in the saddle and get back to the top again, hopefully, this isn't the start of what may become a Jermain Taylor-esq type career.
Man I didn't see the fight but just saw the replays.. that punch looked the exact same as the punch Pacquiao landed on Hatton. Do any of you think Maravilla/Mayweather is possible?
I am finding the forum to be just about unbearable lately, I think I'll be sticking to this thread and the lounge from now on, maybe the classic a bit, but thats about it. Dan, that is exactly what I am afraid of. I really, really hope that this is a fluke night, and Williams gets back on track quickly with some good wins.
personally, I just dont see Mayweather taking the fight. However, if he proves me wrong and accepts this fight, then what can anyone say other then wow? I would give JR all the props in the world for it, and to be honest, and I said this before last night so this isnt just a hype statement, I think Martinez would be more then competetive with Floyd. I know some disagree but thats just IMO.
Especially, after a big fight the forum goes in the tank for a couple of days. If the fight was close then so and so was robbed, if it ended in a KO then so and so wasn't ever good or had a glass jaw, etc. It does get a bit better (using that loosely ) after the hoopla has passed over a bit.
Yep. Oh well, its the way it is and just gotta deal with it I guess Anyways, tired and gonna go to bed. Congrats to Martinez, couldnt ask for a classier champion. And my thoughts are with Williams. Hope he is ok and can put this into its proper perspective and doesnt get too down, I believe he can come back from this with wins against quite a few of the 154lbers if this fight doesnt effect him too harshly. What a KO. night everyone.
I am just speechless. Congrats to Martinez and my thoughts are with Paul.May he recover mentallly and physically from this.
Williams seemed to be back mentally during the interview, so I'm hoping he is healthy and well. If these guys fight again you know we'll get another war. Both guys truly believe they are physically stronger and tougher than the other and they seem hellbent on proving it every second they are in the ring together.
