This might come back to bite me in the ass, I should probably go with the favorite.... and by all means, I could see Ajose being too active, and too physical for Lundy, but..... Im gonna go with Lundy squeaking out a close, could go either way type decision, for a few reasons. We will see.... :-( Lundy MD
Hello everybody. As some may know I've had some computer problems that has prevented from coming on here and various websites. Keeping this long story short I decided to download firefox. I had been using google chrome for awhile after using internet explorer which went to **** as well. But, anyway, I downloaded firefox, am using that right now, and it's like a whole new computer. Finally, I can have two tabs open (wow!) at the same time. It's pretty amazing. I don't know how long this fast speed will last before this internet firefox thing will take a dump. So, anyway, to celebrate this glorious day I'm just going to ramble on about some of the fights coming up. Hope you enjoy. :good This content is protected This content is protected Dereck Chisora vs. Malik Sco This content is protected This content is protected
Andre Berto vs. Jesus Soto Karass: Andre Berto by TKO On the 27th of July boxing will finally be back on a major network on a Saturday night. This month has been rough in that regard. Not much to look forward to on a Saturday night. Now, while this definitely isn't the best card nor is the best main event...at least it is something. On paper this looks like a very one sided fight. Everything points to Andre Berto winning, winning big, and more than likely winning by stoppage. But, as we've seen this year some fights that have been one sided on paper hasn't played out that way in the ring. So, we'll see what happens, but I definitely like Berto here. I don't rate Andre Berto all that highly, but stylistically he seems to be all wrong from Jesus Soto-Karass. Soto-Karass is a tough hombre, he isn't afraid to take 4 or 5 punches to give you a left hook to the body. He's an action fighter and he brings it. You have to respect that. However, in this fight, Andre Berto should be able to tee off time and time again. Andre Berto has a lot of flash in his game. He's got a lot of speed, very explosive, and athletic. Soto-Karass is quite slow and stiff as he walks forward throwing punches. Berto will have opportunities to fire off his overhand right and that right uppercut that should bounce off Soto-Karass' head round after round after round. It isn't all doom and gloom for Soto-Karass, though. He does have a chance Berto has a lot of glaring weaknesses. First off, Berto gets off to very slow starts. I don't know what it is with Andre Berto, but he's been susceptible to getting dropped early. In his most recent fight versus Robert Guerrero last November he was dropped in rounds 1 and 2. Before that, he fought Jan Saveck (another fight where a weakness was just glaring out there...we'll get to that later). Before Jan Saveck, he fought Victor Ortiz and was dropped in round 1 (also later on in that fun Round 6) and hurt many times. Before that fight, he stopped Freddy Hernandez (a fight which is a lot like this one. Just a terrible style match up for Hernandez.), and against Carlos Quintana he was dropped in the first round, but referee Tommy Kimmons ruled it a slip. So, basically, history tells us that if Soto-Karass can get to Berto quickly early, Soto-Karass may just put Berto on the seat of his pants. The problem is keeping him there which nobody has done thus far. If Soto-Karass can drop Berto and get off to an early lead, keeping that pressure on and getting to Berto's body will be key. Berto has had stamina issues. He is so explosive with his punches (mainly that right hand) that he has a tendency to wear down as the rounds progress. It would have been interesting to see how his fight versus Zaveck would have played out had it continued. Berto was already wearing down after five rounds, and Zaveck doesn't get tired. Too bad that fight was cut early, and too bad we aren't getting a rematch. Also, against Ortiz, Berto struggled to finish. Berto didn't throw much and it was basically a hugfest from round 7-12. Now, in fairness, Berto was still strong versus Robert Guerrero. Berto started to get to Guerrero and win some rounds late. So, perhaps Berto's stamina has improved. We'll have to see, but if I'm in Soto-Karass' corner, I'm giving him the confidence that he can get to Berto late in the fight. Also, if I'm in Soto-Karass' corner, I'm telling Soto-Karass that Berto is a one handed fighter. Hats off to Berto for getting this far in boxing with just a right hand. Berto's overhand right and right uppercut have been pretty money over the course of his career. Berto's left hand, eh, not so much. Berto doesn't have a jab. Berto has one of the ugliest jabs in boxing. He backhands with it, slaps with it. It's terrible. And he doesn't feature a left hook, nor a left uppercut. He really doesn't do much with his left hand and it does no damage. We'll see if may'be he'll have some new tweaks in his game this go around, but I doubt it. So, if I'm in Soto-Karass, I'm not worrying about Berto's left hand. Put yourself in a position to where you minimize the damage of Berto's right hand. Basically, open yourself up to his left hand until he makes the adjustment. Overall, who do I like, I like Berto. I'm expecting Berto to win and to win big. I like Berto to win by stoppage, probably a corner or ref stoppage. It's sort of a not who's going to win, but when will Berto win. He may stop Soto-Karass in round 2 or round 9. But, again, who knows? This is boxing, anything can happen.
WBK Kirk R11 Lundy MD R12 Molina UD wide Bladerunner R11 Ajose KO 6 R12 Bey Close decision No spare round, kirk ?
I have to wait for my other picks... boxrec wouldn't let me access their page, and Ill be waiting til I can analyze a bit more. So ill probably put in my other picks a bit later.
The Ajose vs Lundy fight is haunting me right now Hes such a tough customer, and I feel he will 'want it' more then Lundy. I think a guy like Ajose is hard to beat unless you have something to truly beat him with, which Im not sure Lundy has. I should just go with Ajose by UD, close. But its too late to change it now :-( Oh well.... this will decide it. Last two rounds of the WBK title fight, and we both have different winners.
If I could, knowing that Blade has Ajose by stoppage, I would change my pick to Ajose by decision.... I think that's the 'safer' pick. Maybe I over-analyzed this fight, which I have a tendency to do sometimes, and wind up giving the underdog a better chance then they actually have. But, I am also taking perhaps some shady judging into account. If I thought it would be a fair match, Id go Ajose by close decision. But I think Lundy will get a bit of an edge with the judges, and I expect some controversy. That's why Im going with the MD for Lundy. idk.... all I know is I am pumped for the fight. I am actually rooting for Ajose in this, I hope he pulls out the win.
