I don't know, man. You can probably feel pretty confident riding with the guy who clearly defeated even a fat and shot to bits James Toney (which has only been done thrice since 1996, although Browne didn't impress as much as Peter in the rematch or Lebedev) over the guy who struggled horrendously with chinny and over-the-hill former kickboxing contender (but never more than a journeyman in boxing) Gregory Tony. Just IMO. Towers seemed clueless at times and was even put on ***** Street at one point by Tony and it really is an occasion where the phrase "exposed" is appropriate. Both have padded records but Towers' is pure fluff and he is barely even fit to compete at European level, whereas Browne is fringe world class. As for Towers being able to punch...well, yes, they both can - and I'd say Browne quite a bit more and can take more in return. Tony has a terrible chin and it took everything Towers had to get rid of him, unable to finish on several occasions despite Tony being practically asleep on his feet after rising from multiple knockdowns. Of his other stoppages at least three came from cuts or injuries and they were all of nobodies. Browne meanwhile sparked Gavern out cold, did exactly as well versus Travis Walker as Tomasz Adamek (both rising off the canvas early to batter & stop Freight Train), and has in general scored more out-for-the-count 1-punch knockouts of comparable domestic opposition than has Towers.
The odds makers seem to be thinking along the same lines as me: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=491628
David... take up the gloves for the Peoples Championship of the Kirk World rematch. Towers (David - current champ) vs Browne (Robney - former champ) :bbb
And I'm the John Ruiz of the bunch... getting titleshot after titleshot, losing most but getting lucky on other occasions. You never know what you're going to get :yep
