guys fight list was not adapted in time apologies updates of rankings are no problem but checking the list regularly i cannot do so Fury fight does not count unless the boss decides otherwise speaking of this weekend his opponent is a massive step up in class from usual so i expect a close (controversial maybe) decision for GGG will be very very impressed if he kills Geale in a few rounds
:good I think we usually say tha the latest a participant in a fight can change, is one week before fight day. Ustinov came in only two days ago. Think GGG will score a late stoppage, but have quite a few problems early.
A few misc thoughts on Garcia/Prescott. Garcia is a very slow starter... Usually takes at least 3 rounds to get going. On the flip side Prescott is a fast starter, and has rattled and dropped even world class opposition in the opening rounds. We could see an early knockdown here with Garcia's habit of not moving his head and magnetically attracting punches. Garcia also tends to fight dirty when frustrated, and has had points taken away in multiple fights... Not a bright idea in a 10 round fight, nearly cost him the decision against Gonzalez
One more... Garcia in his own words was over 170 pounds before taking the Gonzalez fight and the weight cut was not pleasent. He fought at 154 for the past 4 years, and he looked like an absolute solid tank there. He just dropped down to 147 for the Cayo fight, and this match is also at welter. I think he looked drawn and shitty at the weigh in. People forget the guys 34... Don't know why a guy who relies on constant pressure and stamina would drain himself down at that advanced age.
You have echoed my thoughts. :good Prescott has also been slowly but surely improving his outside boxing skills, and lest we forget Antonio Margarito of all people managed to put an outside boxing clinic on the painfully slow Garcia, looking, flatteringly to Margarito and humiliatingly for Garcia, almost like a Whitaker clone at times. :-( I'm pulling for La Amenaza here and believe he does have the one-punch to crunch to hurt Prescott if the latter gets lazy, certainly more of it than Alvarado - but he doesn't have anything like Alvarado's work rate so he will pretty much need Prescott to give him an open shot on a silver platter. (whereas Mile High Mike had to rally back from severe adversity putting in a great deal of effort before he finally cracked the Colombian with a bevy of uppercuts, which are not exactly Garcia's specialty. Garcia mostly throws uppers of the shoveling variety downstairs, but is more of a headhunter and specifically a clubber/hooker which may not serve against the rangier Prescott if kept on the outside and boxed smart...)
How'd you score the Gonzalez fight? Just scored it yesterday... two point win for Gonzalez. Gonzalez looked absolutely feather fisted after a few rounds... Prescott might not be the puncher he was years ago a few weight classes ago but he's sure as **** going to punch through Garcia's mediocre high guard, static head defense... Unlike some of the light hitting guys Garcia has been feasting on lately.
95-94 Garcia, but he was down on my card through seven and needed to summon every last shred to pull it off by the skin of his teeth. He is probably lucky he broke Norberto's jaw or his turnaround might not have cleared the runway.
Garcia's slow, but it's not like Prescott's a speed demon or completely unhittable. Plus, Garcia's proved capable of finding the range against guys who are probably more skilled thatn Bredis (Antwone Smith, e.g.). Prescott might outbox him early, but he's never really shown the consistency or workrate of someone like Margo, and that's what it takes to beat RG. Oh...and the fact that Garcia's naturally the larger man doesn't hurt his cause either. Garcia's not amazing...but neither is Prescott, and he certainly isn't operating at a level right now that indicates that he'll be the one to stop Garcia's current winning streak.
