As much of a fan of Chris' as I am (and still am, I think he can beat 'almost' anybody on any given night)


I am not dumb enough to give away the FIRST FOUR ROUNDS!!! And than this, "I AM ABOUT TO LET HIM OUT OF THE CAGE" bull**** was proof positive that this trainer was in over his head from a strategic perspective. When you are fighting an all time great, even one that has slipped a bit in recent fights, you have to take advantage of every second of every minute. Frankly, THAT is why you get in that great shape (and he was in great shape), that is why you go through hell in training, so you can throw lots of punches while still being able to move with precision; and he didn’t do that. Furthermore, listening to his trainer make the statement in ROUND 9 that you are about to "let him out of his cage" and that your plan is to "KNOCK MANNY OUT" is ****ing flabbergasting!

As for Manny, his body looked almost as good as it did before the last Marquez fight. He certainly has some good fights left in him, but I still believe he has taken a few steps down from the guy we all saw KO Hatton. He is committing himself to 140lbs. and will most certainly find himself in a big fight with a big name. But who? Any ideas? I think Marquez & Mayweather fight should be s****ped (unless it happen before he moves down to 140lbs.). There are just so too many interesting fights for him at 140lbs. AND with the money Manny can generate, his name is likely to cut through many of the promotional hiccups that torpedo other desired fights. Manny vs. Danny, Lucas, BRONER (I like that one, very entertaining), or maybe a Crawford once he moves up (I really hope he pans out to be the elite fighter people think).

All in all I thought it was an entertaining buildup to the fight here , and although the fight didn’t pan out like I wanted, it was entertaining in spots. Between the Demarco vs. Vargas fight, the solidification of Lomenchecko as a certified great (would love to see him vs. RIGO), an EXCITING Zou Shiming fight (If that ‘Mao pin wearing, communist party joining, People’s Republic of China citizen’ [inside joke] fought like that all the time, I would become a fan, and so would 99% of boxing fans in North America, he was awesome), and the comedy show of one-liners by Mr. Lane were entertaining. And as for the prediction, it clearly failed to materialize, but that is par for the course in this sport, not really knowing what will happen, but always knowing anything can happen.
