I'm thinking Hammer UD or Hammer SD too. He is sturdy and has a good chin -- and I have a funny feeling once Hammer bulls in on Price, working at close range, mauling and working the body, Price will panic and wilt under the pressure.

The scores between judges comes down to one simple thing, where they see the fight from. The judges don't get to watch the fight they are scoring on a monitor, they are required to watch it from mat level through ropes from their side of the ring. The ref can obstruct one judges view during a important exchange, the fight might take place on one side of the ring with the fighters backs facing one judge for the majority of a match etc. If judges were allowed to watch the fight like we get to with a monitor in HD, and always having the best angle, that would probably go a long way from the drastically different scores between the judges. As far as how they score, preference is always going to be a factor. If fighter (A.) is very active landing solid but not spectacular shots, while fighter (B.) isn't near as active, connecting about half as many times or less, but is loading up so his shots are more spectacular, then I'm going with the more active fighter landing twice as many shots that are solid. Unless fighter (B.) is visibly hurting/rocking fighter (A.) when he connects. Many people always score for the harder puncher, even if they aren't throwing or landing near as much. That's where preference comes into scoring even when they have a criteria to follow, the heavier puncher isn't winning a round from me if he only lands 7 punches to the other man's 15 unless in landing those 7 he has the other guy reeling around the ring, or dropping him with them. It would be otherwise impossible for a lighter punching fighter to ever win a fight against a fighter that can hit harder.

It's like that Karl vs Ramirez fight last night. I had Karl ahead by 1 point going into the final round, based on his activity and for the most part pressing the action. The same fight @drenlou had Ramirez up 7-2 at the time of stoppage, he saw what Ramirez was doing through the first half of the fight in Ramirez's favor. I thought he wasn't active enough to justify giving him more than 1 of the first 5 rounds.

Preference...I don't see any way of getting past it.

I'm thinking of going Hammer SD or Hammer mid-rounds TKO, although that isn't my official pick as of yet.

 

Hammer isn't bad at all. Wach hit him with a once in a life time combo. He stood up to furys schooling for 9rounds, he's pretty tough. Price is just really not that good but that right hand.

 

Honestly I don't see the point of going for a Hammer split decision, Price will get the nod if it's vaguely close IMHO.
