A bets a bet, but Gamboa hasn't fought in 15 months, so maybe he might have a slip up? Lol **Fingers crossed**
Since we're discussing upsets, in case no one noticed I picked Srisaket Sor Rungvisai for the win over Chocolatito, that match by all rights should be considered a league splitter, and a 50/50 matchup, I'm a big fan of Sor Rungvisai's, just like I was a fan of Cuadras' and picked him to beat Roman. This is no easy tune up or joke match, Roman is in deep here, in all likelihood the Thai hits harder than both Roman and Carlos, and as big of a fan as I am of Carlos', he really lucked out with his injury against Sor Rungvisai, because he was tiring from the constant pressure and had been seriously hurt to the body right before the cuts TD stoppage. If Roman goes toe to toe with Wangek, he's getting KTFO, because Wangek is the closest the Super Flyweight division has to GGG in style.
I never picked him to begin with, and no, not on this one I won't. I was going to write an entire article about Roman and his eventual ruination at Super Flyweight with SSR playing a big part, as well as Inoue and Cuadras obviously, but the match was announced, and I've been preoccupied lately, so I never got around to it, I still might if I get a chance.
I've wanted to see this match for quite some time, and I've always seen it as a very winnable match for Wangek, and always intended on picking him, so no, I'm pretty much married to this one. Crashing and burning be damned, when I have a strong enough hunch, I stick to it.
Yeah he's pretty ****ing good, most of his losses are confined to his first 5 matches or so, the only loss he's taken in the last 7 years is against Cuadras, who he was getting to right before the cut.
