@KiwiMan, Russell gave all my reasons for the switch, and from what I've seen of Langford over the past few days is that he has a hell of a motor, so it should hold up as well, he's a solid operator who's not quite as good as Saunders or Eubank but still just above British level. He's far from a bum, he actually has shown me glimpses of Calzaghe, although very dim ones. I predicted Khurtsidze would upset Douglas, but didn't have the guts to make it official, I thought Douglas would get a gift, but lo and behold Khurtsidze had the performance of his lifetime that night. Its either that or Douglas was overrated, after all its not like he had an ATG record, Soro should have probably gotten the nod instead of the draw, and that was before Soro fully believed in his abilities. And most haven't seen many of Avtandil's performances other than the Douglas fight, I have, he's had some matches that are a little too close for comfort, supposedly Khurtsidze got a gift against Duran, the N'Damn match was a toss up, and the Kovacs match was SD worthy, Khurtsidze edged it on activity, and the fact that Langford fights in a similar manner to Kovacs, only he's bigger, younger and busier. Langford seems to have a solid chin and has an impressive workrate himself, and while not all that heavy handed, he's no featherfist, he hits hard enough to get his opponents respect, and he might hit just hard enough to blunt a 37 year old midget's aggression.
The Douglas fight really was his peak, in my opinion. I don't think he'll ever hit that high note again. The fight was also flattering to his power, which isn't what that fight itself would lead you to believe. You can check out his fight with N'Dam in regards to that, and compare how N'Dam has fared against other guys touted as punchers. (Lemiux, and to a lesser degree Quillin) We also saw him in real trouble before the Khurtsidze fight against Soro, like you said. If Soro himself stepped on the gas and went for it like Khurtsidze did he might have been the one to spring that upset first.
Exactly and exactly. Soro hurt Douglas a couple of times late, had he gone all out I think he could have forced a TKO, Avtandil's power is being vastly overrated.
What are your thoughts on Fielding vs Ryder, CST? Ryder is a slight underdog but I think he has more than enough to win. He's a technician in there and Fielding is stiff, upright guy who relies on wild shots, but can't take one.
People's champion @PinoyProdigy Picks to challenge are: Abraham SD, Khurtsidze TKO, Tete TKO, Murray SD, Fielding SD, Soro UD, Valdez UD, Ramirez KO, Magdaleno KO, Porter UD, Charlo KO, Alonso UD, Tapales UD, Ioka KO
LEAGUE: Abraham UD, Murray, Fielding UD, Soro TKO, Valdez UD WBK Abraham WIDE UD Murray WIDE UD Fielding CLOSE UD Soro TKO RD ?? Valdez WIDE UD
Ryder is solid in a technical aspect. He applies pressure, likes to come forward attacking his opponent. Ryder uses his aggressiveness to steal rounds, something that can play a pivotal role in this fight. Ryder doesn't possess the best of power, but he does have an arsenal of punches he throws. Fielding also doesn't possess a ton of knockout power, but he does have a knack for attacking his opponent's body. Once Fielding gets into his zone, he seems nearly impossible to beat. Fielding likes to counter, look for him to allow Ryder to be the more aggressive of the two, just so he can sit back and counter Ryder. This could go either way, I could see Ryder stealing a lot of the early rounds, maybe even stealing the late rounds with his aggressive work-man like behavior...!!! Fielding will need to slow Ryder down with body shots early...get him to expand energy in the first four or five rounds...!!!
**** it...the damn busboy / barback at work just called in sick...guess Ima go in and work for his sorry sick ass tonight...!!! Stupid kids now-a-days getting sick on Friday nights...!!! I don't wanna work, I wanna sit at home, drink beer and torture you fools on here...!!!
I don't think much of Fielding in general. His boxing has never looked natural or skillful to me, I don't know if I've ever seen actually him roll under a punch. He's huge at the weight and typically uses that to his advantage. He tries to box when he can't blast an opponent out, he's just very stiff and flattering match making makes him look better than he is. For example, I've never seen Fielding parry a jab like Ryder. And I also have question marks about his durability. We just saw Ryder barely lose a round against another over hyped British fighter in Adam Etches, really beating the **** out of him over 12. He should have a decision win against Arnfield and he skilfully navigated around Khamitski. Compare their last three wins.
