I grew up in a family of diehard boxing fanatics...!!! My grandfather, my father were both members of the Ringsider Club at the Fabulous Forum (Then home of the LA Lakers and My beloved LA KINGS)...!!! My family always traveled to fights in California, and boxing became a passion of mine...!!!
Wow, I've watched a lot of boxing in my life but Camel wasn't even a thought in my head. I must be getting to old, my recall is going bye bye
So did I, like I've mentioned before, my father and brother in law were obsessed with Boxing they never missed a show, and I followed along and rooted for the guy I liked, similar to what I did with pro wrestling (not realizing it was fake at the time), but after it was over, I would go off to pursue my more artistic endeavors. And they'd sit there and argue about it for an hour or two if they disagreed on something, it wasn't until I was about 15-20 that it really clicked for me.
Blues fan...??? And to think I had some damn respect for you...not now...!!! How many Cups do you guys have...??? We have 2 to your 0, zero, zilch, none...just sayin'
That's one of the ironies of my reputation on here (whatever that may be), that while I'm clearly drawn towards the primal bloodlust aspect of the sport and hype the hell out of violent fghters, ironically it was my artistic side that honed in on the craft of the sport, similar to the revelation I had about pro wrestling in the mid-90's it started clicking with my newfound comprehension of the true level of the art of what guys like Benoit, Guerrero and Malenko were doing and so I went back and revisited my childhood favorites I had on VHS like Flair, Piper, Roberts and Savage and my appreciation grew for them, their in ring work, psychology, mic ability the whole package was brilliant. So with RJJ, Morales, ODLH, Calzaghe, Toney, Pacquiao, etc. it all clicked and came togather perfectly. So the blood and guts guy is actually a closeted sweet science guy, shhhhh don't tell anyone. But that includes every aspect and fighting style of the sweet science not just slick fighters.
I just wish I could go back in time and correct some of my stupid boxing mistakes...!!1 Such as: Winning either autographed gloves of Azumah Nelson or an autograph picture of Carlos Zarate. I loved that pic. Giving away the opportunity to work Holyfield's corner against Sherman Williams
I'm the opposite I post almost exclusively in classic. I only really venture over to the general to go on this thread. I will post in certain discussions every now and again but they always got overtook by trolls and hypocrites. I used to post in the general forum a lot more before the days of the naughty 40, but even then I preferred the classic.
One last competition i would like to try... just as a test run. If it doesn't catch on ill toss it out.... This content is protected Details will be coming tomorrow, but basically, it will be a (almost but not quite) risk style, hopefully somewhat strategic, boxing prediction game. Kinda silly but i want to try it lol. If anyone is interested let me know Ill put you down. Ill explain more tomorrow.
