I watch about two or three new movies a year and probably the same amount of TV shows. I simply don't have enough time to watch TV or rather I don't make it a priority to any extent. I also don't have the attention span for it. I really admire anyone who has a solid job yet can still devote so much time to watching TV shows regularly as it takes discipline in its own way. I have a Netflix account that gets logged into maybe once a month maximum. I just don't have enough time.

I do feel like this generation is the laziest and most unproductive generation ever and it'll be interesting to see the consequences. In general people seem to just do the bare minimum in their jobs and then spend all their free time playing video games or binging Netflix. Each to their own and I realise they are hobbies but I just feel it is such an unhealthy thing to engage in. Physically, socially, mentally, I can't imagine it having many if any benefits. In a way I find it motivating that the average person is at such a disadvantage and that I can crush the **** out of every aspect of life simply because I have my priorities and time devoted in a more productive manner.

Then again the same argument could be applied to people who religiously watch sport I guess. At least you might learn something from some TV shows or movies but I really feel extensive video game playing is one of the biggest wastes of time and money on the planet. I work a lot with young kids and they're turning into zombies from games. And they might only play a few hours a day. I say only because I know there are teenagers and young adults who play 6-12 hours a day. We're already seeing the consequences of social media and using smartphones as a crutch socially. I really wonder what consequences will arise from being stuck in a gaming chair staring at a HD TV with insanely vivid graphics for hours and hours every day. Back when I was a kid I played the **** out of games like Metal Gear Solid. However I was never enrgained in it simply because the graphics were so unlike real life. These days some games almost look more realistic than real life itself. That's bound to **** with your head and make you struggle to separate the real from the virtual.

MacArthur Park reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1968.

I never wanna hear baby boomers criticize today's music again.

That's one thing I'm grateful I never got into all that much as a kid, was video games. I had a Nintendo, the original but was it until I got a Playstation 3. I play the first 3 Mario's, Double Dragon and Metroid for a while, then I got bored with the, and moved on, I momentarily got back into them when Vice City and San Andreas came along, then lost interest again. Every time I'd start playing them, I'd feel like I was being sucked into an OCD loop, which tends to happen when doing repetitive actions for most with it, and I hate that feeling, so its better I avoid them. And if it exacerbates my OCD, the idea that it could give someone who doesn't suffer from it to begin with, isn't hard to believe. I loathe what video games have done to our culture.

At least with films and television shows, when they're over, they're over. Sure you can rewatch them endlessly, but most non children aren't capable of that level of repetition.

As far as I go, the reason why I'm such a film and music aficionado is because I played so little video games, watch next to no sports aside from boxing, but as of now, I have a handful of TV shows I watch, and usually only get in 1 or 2 movies a week, which a lot less than I did when I was a teen.
