Two guys who're pretty rough and tumble and pretty exciting to watch if I had to guess.

It is quite humorous to see how much people jumped on the Nate Diaz bandwagon. The Diaz bros were always well liked due to their style but out of nowhere they became God's gift to MMA fans. I mean Nate always seemed to fall at the big hurdle as did Nick pretty much...and Nate was barely fighting when he somehow calls out McGregor and somehow gets the big fight. I guess the kids like the hard no nonsense background of guys like Diaz and Masvidal. Same reason why 'roadmen' in London have become icons for the middle class white kid in school. I've worked a bit in London and it is startling to see how many people from good solid backgrounds using roadman slang. In the 90s and 00s they'd be called wiggers and shamed endlessly but you cannot shame anyone now apparently.

For a stretch street guys and people affiliated with gangs and crews were shunned after being adored in the 90s but it seems to be back again, on both sides of the Atlantic.

I've been on the bandwagon from the start and I feel there popularity has a lot to do with there real,no bull **** fighters mentality and how they fight compared to the boring wrestles that plague MMA.
The Diaz brothers are pioneers and there popularity is because they are anti establishment,unwilling to except any less then there true worth to fight in an era when to often fighters are happy to just take what they can get to get there brains scrambled.
There gas been so many of these faulty contamination cases against athletes recently and Nate pulled 1 of the big power plays any athlete has ever played in the last week,knowing his popularity and how badly they needed him to fight on there big 500th event,after being told to keep it quiet he got out on on the front foot on a bull**** failed test but he wasn't going to have his reputation stained or have them have something over him in the future
