I’m happy with (2). I think active members competing might have fallen steadily over the past few years (could be wrong) so reducing the number of fights could increase the number of people participating, but then the regular competitors wouldn’t like it as much.

It's like boxing in general. You watch 100 fights so you see the one that's magic.

Sometimes you think you have a sure thing. I scheduled a whole fancy weekend around Beterbiev vs Smith (tickets, a hotel room in Manhattan, nice dinner, got my wife a new dress, etc) because I thought it was a sure thing FOTY contender. The actual FOTY, Opetaia vs Briedis, was a fight I only watched out of insomnia.

If I was consistently able to pick Canelo vs GGG type fights better than the Vegas bookmakers I wouldn't be dreading waking up for work in 6 hours. But I might become the world’s leading expert on Tshifhiwa Munyai vs. Lusanda Komanisi soon if that's what catches my interest.
