He supposedly injured his shoulder during the Jack fight, and he still gotten over it by the end of 2017, not sure how much better it'll be four or five months later either.

I'm actually sitting down and paying attention to the first bout of theirs now, I only watched the last third of it or so initially. The commentators mention that he hurt his shoulder, spent 11 months out of the ring and then only spent 2 months, and I quote, "seriously" sparring before the Truax bout.

Love to hear anyone else with any other opinions on this bout, or more specific information on what's ailing Degale.

Man... Ive been getting into UFC a bit more but have to say, their constant cancellations make it hard to keep interest. Was looking forward to this weekends fights but now its scrapped with an injury... sucks.

Am I the only person that isnt sold on Usyk being a great fighter? I know most here in the forum are impressed with him... and hearing him praise Usyk makes me want to go review him again.

I follow MMA, though not religiously... has that really become a chronic problem as of late?

Most of us that were high on Usyk, we have been since he was an amateur and an exemplary one at that, so some of the hype was built around that, but also on the impressive run he had in the WSB, where he fought at Heavyweight, and he took to school everyone he faced, and these weren't bums either, for example Joe Joyce who's massive, his first pro match was against Ian Lewison, who he beat far more impressively than Dillian Whyte did. Also Usyk beat the hell out of Medzhidov who beat AJ in the amateurs fairly comprehensively, and many of us had high hopes for him, but he chose to not turn pro, also Mihai Nistor, a guy that stopped AJ, Usyk beat easier than almost anyone has to date, also Nistor has yet to turn pro. So that's where a lot of the high hopes for him at HW come from, check these 3 matches, and see if you see what we see. They're only 5 rounders mercifully.

As a pro, he blitzed his first 7 or 8 opponents with ease, and yeah, I'll admit, he's looked vulnerable against Mchunu, Glowacki, Huck, Hunter and Brieidis. But here's the catch, that's a murderer's row at Cruiserweight, it could be argued just based on those 5 wins alone, all 5 guys I rate very highly as well, especially Brieidis.

A lot of these guys overtrain and often times train in ways that increase the risk of injury(Ferguson was stupid cross fit crap etc) The injury bug has been a massive problem for the last 7-8 years and I've wondered why the UFC hasn't begun to take measures against this. For big fights there should be a replacement on standby I think, especially when it's involving two guys who has been known to get injured and pull out of fights(Ferguson/Nurmagomedov has been called off several times due to injury FFS) Although tbh WME run UFC has really begun to alienate many due to their poor matchmaking, business moves and planning in general. There are several divisions that have become stagnant due to injured/inactive champions and lack of talent.... They've been reluctant to create interim championships. Just a mess period.

    Nice post.

Ya they definitely need to start doing something about it.... even from comments I see from people online, seems like UFC is really starting to lose momentum with this sort of stuff.

Very nice write up CST.... thank you.

I will reserve my judgement for a bit longer, I hope he shows to be 'the goods' at heavyweight (where he will most certainly wind up). Your post helps me understand where his supporters are coming form in terms of why they rate him so highly.

I dont have any official numbers as to how many fights have been canceled in the last couple years, but from my perspective to me it seems like every other fight Im looking forward to seeing gets canceled. I have seen it start to get referred to as 'Unlimited Fight Cancellations' from its fans.... but idk... maybe the official numbers wouldnt reflect that, but it sure seems like it to me.

He is wonderful as a person, very religious and loving his family. I admire him because most boxers are doing it for the fame and money, he is doing it because that is what he can do. That is his passion and desire.
I used to work with two guys from Ukraine which used to live in the same city as Usyk years ago. They told me that he is very respected. Also they used to train in the same boxing gym as him a long time ago, and Usyk was talking to everyone back then. Just imagine Mayweather communicating with you? Doubt it.

This is heartbreaking to watch for me and pisses me off at everyone involved in making it. I pretty much have lost any respect I had for Povetkin for taking this fight.

Price is being used and abused by the people allowing him to fight high level fighters.... and more than the physical neurological damage hes taking in these no hope affairs, is the emotional damage that he suffers after the fight. The amount of himself he put into this destined to fail attempt was painful to watch, the amount of desire he showed of wanting to make everyone who believed him in proud, the iron will and determination he was showing in the fight, angry at being dropped the first time and refusing to let that be the outcome, coming back to land some good shots of his own, only to ultimately be severed from his senses as was so predictably foreseen.

I realize I am being a bit over the top here but man I cant stand these ridiculous mismatches.
