    @David B

I, as always, respect your position David, and I understand the perspective you are viewing it.

But in this particular instance, we just disagree, and thats ok.

Unlike the old times, where poverty was a more pressing issue to fighters, and the opportunity for quality paydays was a more desperate situation, Price has earned more than a million dollars (probably multi millions) and him and his family are set for generations if navigated properly.... so I dont view Povetkin giving Price a payday as a respectable nor suitable excuse in which to take advantage of his physical, mental and emotional health in the way this fight did. Its not as if Povetkin was lifting Price out of poverty. It was simply a nice payday. And to me, thats not enough to justify it.

This was not a sporting fight to me, the outcome was so predictable and certain (imo) and the difference in level so vast, that imo they shouldnt have been allowed to fight each other.

To me and my perspective, its actually disrespectful and dishonorable to think that its ok to take advantage of Price (or anyone) in a scenario that was this extreme, just because hes being paid by the people who are taking advantage of him.

To think that the short term money can compensate for the abuse, both emotionally and physically (brain damage), doesnt vibe with me.

Then again, I must also step back and remember that taking advantage of opponents is a part of boxing, and that every other fight in boxing involves this dynamic. Its just that to me, this particular matchup was so bad that its an outlier in terms of how predictably it was going to end with Price being knocked out and how little of a chance he truly had.

If money is all it takes to justify such a horrible mismatch, and if that was the case, nobody should ever be mad at any horribly outclassed mismatch that takes place, where the fighter brought in to get demolished gets hurt and destroyed, because hey at least they were given a payday. I just dont agree with that mentality.

To me, honor and decency should be above money whenever possible, especially when we are talking about people who have plenty of money anyways. And its just my opinion, but to me, bringing in Price to get knocked out isnt honorable or decent, and paying him to do it to him doesnt make it so.

However, again I do see where you are coming from and I understand that its a part of the sport and a part of life. Had the disparity in level, and the predictability in Price getting knocked out, and if Price was in a better segment of his career, I would most likely agree with your position. But in this certain instance I just can not.

But I appreciate you providing me with food for thought and a valid opposing position in which to view this scenario.

Hope all is well David, wish you came around more!

Donaire has an 6 inch reach advantage. And at FW that's....:eyepop: quite the reach advantage.

And, something else to consider, Broner and Vargas have a shared opponent, Khabib Allakhverdiev, Khabib IMO, beat Vargas with relative ease and was robbed, Broner (post Porter) beat him so badly he retired.

Cuellar is a southpaw, and he specializes in destroying southpaws. Here's two of his more impressive performances.

Charlo is open to lefts, look how many lefts Trout lands on him from the southpaw position.

Granted Centeno is not a southpaw, but he realizes what a weapon his left hook is and he can land it from awkward angles, if Charlo gets too aggressive, could this happen to him?

Khytrov couldn't drop Aleem, he KO'd him cold.

Stevens and Angulo couldn't stop De La Rosa, Centeno destroyed him.

I was literally about to post the opposite sentiment mate!

The night of combat sports tonight is absolutely epic. Khan Vs LoGreco is a very good fight to see if Khan has it in him to make another title run, Donaire Vs Frampton is a brilliant fight, Dodd Vs Coyle and Adamek Vs Abell are both gonna be epic. Then tonight Tank Vs Cuellar, Charlo Vs Centeno and Vargas Vs Broner are all gonna be amazing fights. Over in UFC we get to see Edgar in his comeback against Swanson and over in Bellator there's the freakshow that is Fedor Vs Mir. At first I was gonna watch Donaire Vs Frampton and catch up on everything else later but now I'm proper buzzing so I'm gonna spend almost all night flicking between different channels catching the action.

There's two sides to me now as a boxing fan one is interested in good competitive fights, which tonight has loads of, the other is interested in the best fighting the best.

In terms of the best I have the following to look forward to:

Joshua Vs Povetkin (not quite Wilder but the next best fight)
    Usyk Vs Gassiev
Kovalev Vs Alvarez and Stevenson Vs Jack (I've long give up hope of Stevenson Vs Kov so this is the next best thing for me)
Groves Vs Smith which will crown the number 1 SMW, probably with the winner facing DeGale in am excellent fight (hopefully Zurdo gets a look in)
Golovkin Vs Canelo 2 is pretty much a lock for September
Hurd Vs Charlo is almost certainly gonna be next.
WW is a bit meh, Thurman is long term out, Spence Vs Crawford or Porter would be epic if it gets made
LWW is a bit meh. Crawford and Garcia were far and away the best two there and both have now left. Prograis Vs Lipinets seems a natural fight to make now.
LW has Linares Vs Loma and Garcia almost certainly gonna take on the winner.
SFW is a bit meh but with Loma leaving hopefully the big fights will now happen.
FW has Mares Vs LSC and Donaire Vs Frampton with the winners most likely to face each other.
SBW is a waste land but with Rigo losing maybe a big name will now face him.
BW is insanely competitive and I reckon Barnett Vs Inoue will happen down the road but everyone seems to be in big matches.
Super Fly has been insane for years now, doesn't need any justification.
Fly I'd love a Rosales Vs Higa rematch with Selby getting the winner, seems the only fights to be made there so I reckon it will come off.
Light Fly is a bit meh, and Japs are usually terrible at unifying with each other so I see no hope there.
Strawweight we have to see KO and Wanheng face each other, surely.

So even that side of me is now buzzing as well. In fact I'm that happy with the sport I wanna complete the trifector of being a boxing fan (competitive fights, best fighting the best, emotional investment) for the first time in years I'm now thinking I wanna follow the sport enough to be a fan of actual fighters rather than the holistic overview I've maintained in recent times.

The following seem to be top of my potential fan list: Joshua, Price, Groves, Brook, Crolla. Might chuck a foreigner in there as well and that's probably gonna be Golovkin.

So yeah long story short I feel the exact opposite of you right now.
