I finally got around to watching The Last Jedi, and I'll get my review on it up here a little later. I'll try to avoid too many spoilers.

Long story short, it was corporate interests ****ing the real Star Wars fans in the ass without even giving them the benefit of a reach around.

I'm of two minds when it comes to The Last Jedi. f I went in expecting the second coming of The Empire Strikes Back, I'd have been woefully disappointed, and most likely would have hated every second of it. But as someone who went in with drastically lowered expectations I didn't find it that abhorrent a viewing experience. And I think that's the main thing the prequel and sequel trilogies have suffered from. They're perfectly acceptable entertainment, some I'd even go as far as saying, enjoyable, but when held to the ridiculously lofty standards set by the original trilogy, almost everything would pale in comparison.

So from the POV of view of a devout Star Wars fanboy, of which I'm not, it was a letdown, it drops several balls, the mythology is weak, the characterization is weak, the set pieces are weak, the franchise has basically lost the plot entirely, Its hard to even remember what exactly they're fighting, the Dark Side isn't palpable enough for me, and there's no real feeling of a genuine threat, especially with Darth Emo taking the reins. Snoke is awful, he lacks the sinister presence of Palpatine, the red headed commander was douche chillingly awful, the bad guys aren't heavies, they're minimumweights, and seem incredibly beatable.

The rebels are sadly a joke as well, and I'm not even sure if they know what they're fighting for anymore either. The SJWish vibe Laura Dern is giving off as the lavender haired captain is really bad, poor Carrie Fisher, she looked as semi-tranquilized throughout this film as she did in The Force Awakens, she doesn't come across as some wizened old wise leader, she comes across as a lifelong drug addict with vocal fry that just got released from the psyche ward, its beyond depressing, especially when you consider this was her last film. The stuff with Rey and Luke I did find compelling however, it started out weak, but got more intriguing the longer it carried on, and it did feel like the force was slowly taking her over, after she got off to a bumbling awkward start. But the dialogue of Luke was lightweight, and lacked the gravity and power of Alec Guinness and Yoda's dialogue from the earlier films.

So, I ha mixed feelings, I love the scene at the intergalactic Monaco, I liked the relationship between Finn and the chubby Japanese girl Rose, I love Poe and think Oscar Isaac is easily one of the best things in the new trilogy, I like most of the stuff with Rey and Skywalker, loved the cameo at the Jedi tree, and overall found it to be a passable fun time killer that I was never bored and a solid sci-fi film. But... as a Star Wars film, it was underwhelming, especially Adam Driver, who's about the most unintimidating bad guy I've ever seen, and one of the poorest casting choices in the history of film, alongside Hayden Christensen playing Vader. It was shoddily junked together, not nearly as epic as they wanted it to be, and a lot of the aha moments that should of had you swelling with emotion, fell flat. So as a summer blockbuster time killer, mission accomplished, but if holding it to a higher standard that we at least used to expect from Star Wars films, its quite a let down.

I give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5, not awful, but not great either, its... so so.

I love the Last Jedi, not as much as other star wars films and not a patch on rogue one but I think it's a really good film.

Too many people got caught up on what they think should happen as opposed to what actually did happen and aside from the green milk scene the film was solid.

I hated everything with Rey/Luke. Ruined Luke for me and I don't like Rey, Finn or Kylo Ren at all. I hated the Leia "Mary Poppins" moment... I could've walked out of the movie then. I thought the whole plot was weak... Really just a bad movie and down there with Phantom Menace. 3 out of 10 from me.

I basically agree with this, except I'd drop the love and make it like, and drop the really.
