Yes, yes and yes. Love all three, Chopping is brutally underrated, as is The Initiation a great slasher film set in a shopping mall, with the insanely hot Daphne Zuniga.:naughty2: The Toxic Avenger franchise is wonderful as is the Class Of Nuke 'Em High, but aside from that I find Lloyd Kauffman's films to be quite tedious. Piranha is one of my favorite killer animal movies bar none, its ridiculously underrated, I think it should rank right up there alongside Jaws 2, which is also underrated as well as Jaws 3 and The Revenge. Piranha 2 is awful,:ohno but I've seen it twice regardless.

Killer Klowns was decent, thought the Klown designs were too obvious and they were trying a little too hard, love The Blob, and most importantly I LOVE and still do love Shawnee Smith. The scene in with the kitchen sink, holy ****.:scared1

I just had a quasi interesting thought/observation pop into my head.

The Left are pushing this non-binary gender stuff for all its worth, which I find ridiculous. But ironically gender is about the only thing I'm (personally) actually very binary on.

Keep in mind, I'm using the actual definition of the word binary here.

    Binary 1
. relating to, composed of, or involving two things.

I'm politically non-binary, neither Left nor Right on most issues. I take everything on a case by case basis, and come to my own conclusions regardless of what others want me to think.
I'm religiously non-binary, neither an atheist or a believer, I'm brave enough to say don't know, I'm the definition of agnostic, ie, without knowledge.
I'm socially non-binary, I can fit in with almost any group, I judge people on a person by person basis, not by the ethnic or racial group they belong to.
I'm culturally non-binary, I love aspects of all cultures, and hate aspects of all cultures, I pick and choose like its a grab bag.
My thoughts on people's sexuality is that many are non-binary, sexuality is infinitely more complex than people think it is, and everyone is built slightly differently.

Yet for some reason if you're non-binary on all of these issues and a free thinker, like Kanye West, you're bashed mercilessly by the Left and the Right and told to pick a side, otherwise you're a traitor.

The Left want people to believe that being a man or women is a social construct, and people shouldn't try to fit into a binary system, and while some people are legit tweeners, the vast majority are as binary as they can be. And that's a scientifically provable fact.

Yet virtually everything else on the planet aside from gender, is complex and non-binary as hell, like religion, politics, society, race, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, family, but you're told to shut the **** up and don't think, no critical thought allowed, pick a side, Left or Right, and be quiet.

    Ironic isn't it?

And with that one phrase, you illustrate that gender may not be quite so binary, after all. The vast majority of us do tend to have matching biological sex (which is binary, more or less) and gender. But, not everyone does. Some people identify as being the opposite gender to what the sex they were born with. Some people, try as they might, find that they don't identify with either gender. These statements don't apply to the most, and in fact may only apply to a small minority...But, they do apply to some. And, in those cases, those individuals might want to be referred to by a gender neutral term of some sort when being discussed in the third person, I personally don't have an issue with it. It won't come up that often, I think, but if it does, then I'd like to think I'm considerate enough to respect their wishes.

If some other people aren't, then that's on them.

That's why I threw that in there, because there are some gender non-binary people, I'm not disagreeing here in the least, I'm for them 100%, but you know as well as I, that that's not what I'm getting at. I'm saying that the Left has been promoting the idea that gender is some kind of social construct that's taught to us from birth and that we're all born as non-binary, which is idiotic and counter productive, by saying there's no such thing as gender and that its a myth, then that kind of undermines the entire concept of someone being transgender, after all, trans means across, as in from one gender to another, well how can one be trans gender if there's no such thing as a binary to begin with? You have to be of the male gender to move across to the female gender. Some people are clearly non binary, they're tweeners, as I said, but they are in the minority, and the majority shouldn't be forced to adopt some illogical science denying narrative that gender is a myth to make that minority feel better about themselves. Its perfectly fine that they're different and it should be pointed out that they're different, and that's okay, everyone is different. There's nothing wrong with that at all. But to attempt to change the thought patterns of everyone else on the planet to make that minority feel comfortable is utterly ridiculous.

But that wasn't my point, my point is, the Left and the Right are totally intolerant of non binary points of view across the board, on politics, religion, society, culture etc. Because that undermines their power, free thinkers, who tend to think in a non binary fashion are a threat to the establishments of both sides. Just look what's happening to Kanye West.

Non-binary is awesome to throw around when it doesn't affect the grip on power of people in government, but if someone is non-binary with their political and religious POV, all bets are off, you get called a no good commie or fascist traitor. Deviating from the strict binary parameters, gets you exiled as a charlatan. Living on the perimeter I most areas of life is discouraged.

One can be transgender because one's gender is assigned to match one's biological sex at birth. Yet, factors both societal and biological can dictate that the assigned gender isn't actually the gender the person in question might identify with. Again, sex refers to the physiological aspects of masculinity and feminity, and gender describes the state of masculinity and femininity. Those states (as you acknowledge) are subject to change. There's science to support that assertion, too.

Now, I am of the opinion that the identities of transgender, non-binary, and gender fluid individuals should be respected, and that holds true for me whether they comprise a very small minority of general population or not. We respect the identities of other minorities, so why not respect their identities, as well? This isn't a matter of identity politics, this is a matter of identity acknowledgement, and that's a bit different.

Personally, I don't think this should be a political issue. The relative merits and flaws of capitalism and socialism don't come into play in this discussion. The reason why this become a Left-Right discussion is because some social conservatives reacted poorly when the idea of gender being different from sex was initially discussed and viewed the idea of non-binary or pan-gender individuals as being symbolic of the moral decay of civilization. And then some other conservatives began to refer to the other side as Cultural Marxists, and from that point, it was on.

But name calling and politics aside, what it comes down to is this: If you meet someone who is non-binary, and they ask you to refer to them in gender neutral terms, be it "they" or name and noun when speaking of them in third person, would you do so?

Foe me, the answer is "yes", even if it's borne of simple courtesy. If that's the case, then the idea of non-binary ceases to be a left-right issue and more about an issue with how you feel your fellow human should be treated.

Yeah I know the difference, no need to explain it, I didn't really feel like getting drug into this discussion, but what the hell. Cut the crap, no one is assigned a gender at birth, that whole concept is just silly, no one sat you and I down and told us we were boys, stop making **** that's completely normal into something sinister and nefarious. With 95% of kids, their gender and sexuality are compatible, and most kids act accordingly on their own, without anyone telling them otherwise, but guess what, the kids who don't conform to their gender norm, they alert their parents to that at a young age. No one told you and I we were boys, we knew, and the same applies to little transgender and gender fluid kids as well, when people told them they were boys or girls, they disagreed, just like you and I would have had an issue with our parents giving us Barbie dolls and My Little Pony instead of GI Joe's and Ninja Turtles. Gender isn't taught or learned or "assigned", its innate, its primal, which is why the gender non conforming kids are well aware of their true gender from a young age, just like us gender conforming kids are as well.

I don't care about any of this, I'll call them whatever the hell they want to be called, quite frankly I'd have a hard time calling most transgender people who pass anyway, anything but a girl if they look like a girl and vice versa, I just don't think its the governments job to legislate any of that though.

But.... that's aside from my point. I'm using the binary concept as an analogy.

My point was most political issues are binary, as in pro-abortion and anti-abortion, but if I take a non-binary approach where you are a little pro-choice and a little pro-life, a mix, you're bashed and called a traitor by both sides, got it?

The concept of gender being fluid is hailed and at this point almost considered orthodoxy, but if anything else which is fluid, like someone's POV on religion or guns or family values or race or immigration or science are discussed as such, that's frowned upon. Most issues are beyond complex, but examining those complexities is usually reacted to with scorn and disdain, because no one wants their friends and family to venture out of their ideological bubble.

Left and Right IS A BINARY, and if someone doesn't conform to that particular binary, in the majority of countries across the planet, those people are public enemy number 1, they're friendless stateless rogue agents, outcasts.

And why? Is that fair? Why are people who don't conform to the atheist/religious, left/right or even in some cases gay/straight binaries viewed with such hatred?

    See what I'm getting at?

Its interesting how subjective things are. One movie one person really likes and another can hate. Just interesting how that is.

For me I can honestly say its one of the worst movies Ive ever seen in theater. But on the flip side Im sure I have movies on my favorites list that others would completely hate.

You write something like this, eventually someone is going to disagree and want to discuss this. Not dragging you into anything you didn't want to be dragged into, and you know it. :D

You get your sex at birth, and your gender is considered to match, initially. If you're Chris or Drew or Kirk or Russell and you're born with male anatomy, you will far more often than not be considered to be of the male gender at birth. As time goes on, the trans and gender fluid eventually come to realize that something isn't right and many take steps to address that. In time, some of them may want to be referred to by a different pronoun. The government shouldn't legislate that into common parlance, no... But after getting bashed and referred to as freaks for decades, I can understand why this little bit of acknowledgement might be important to them and why they might want to work toward a time when that would come to pass.

But, there are some who respond to this request by referring to that community (which may well include members of the right) as being cultural marxists, and that's playing into the issue of binary reaction that you were discussing in the first place.

I do agree that there should be continued and extensive discussion to find some common ground and understanding on social and political issues, but that's the responsibility of both (all) sides of the camp. When the right calls anyone who disagrees with a political stance a snowflake or refers to them as being triggered, then that's just as counter-productive as the extreme lefty who shouts down anyone on the center-right as being an outright fascist. And, while the left can certainly be guilty of the latter, you are still getting a whole hell of a lot of the former these days as well.

Anyway, hope this makes sense. Don't think we'll come to full agreement on the gender neutral issue, but it was a fun discussion that stayed civil. Can't ask for more than that.
