Just had an idea on ELO that may help with deciding title fights etc.

I like the overall ELO to show how your record stands but I think as a ranking it should be on a 5 fight basis to indicate current form which will move people around more frequently and also avoid people being stuck near the bottom due to poor form last year etc.

 

We pretty much do that already:

a) Elo rankings do not strictly guarantee who gets the next title shot, we consider recent form as well. For example, in the last series Chuck Norris' excellent recent form got him the title shot all the way from #7

b) No one gets a title shot without winning a final eliminator. So even if a competitor has a high Elo ranking they do have to get a win vs at least one top opponent before getting a shot. And it's very rare to get a final eliminator without coming off a good win.

c) In the Elo rankings we have reduced the weight of last year's fixtures - this year's results count for approximately twice as much.
