I had zero interest in Tommy Wiseau either, but I gave it a chance, and I'm thrilled I did, its far better than the trailers imply.
Gal Gadot was brilliant, especially for a model, and there's no virtue signaling here from me, I wanted to hate it as feminist crap, but I found it to be apolitical and enjoyable.

Not a huge fan of Sofia either, but I was a huge fan of the first Beguiled, and tthis shockingly almost equals Siegel's original masterpiece in terms of quality.
Call Me By Your Name, morally bothered me too, but the age gap wasn't egregious, and the "child" is 17, I've seen movies with older men dating 16 year old girls, like Lolita and Baby Doll, I feel like I'd be a hypocrite for being incensed over this, when I wasn't over those two. That being said, I absolutely reject Hollywood and its attempts to normalize pederastic relationships, but this was made by an Italian and 14 is the age of consent over there.

Miss Peregrine is a Tim Burton film, I had the same vibe going in, but got the best Tim Burton film since Ed Wood and Beetlejuice, its lovely.
Neon Demon isn't style over substance, it will stay with you for months, its haunting, and brilliant commentary at just how evil the underbelly of Hollywood really is.
Have you seen Knight Of Cups? Its brutally underrated.
I didn't think I wanted to see anything Pratt related either, or Lawrence related, I was wrong.
Looks fake, but The Jungle Book is genuine and hearfelt, and the voice over work is top notch, its a beautiful film.

I had the same feeling going into Blood Father, and I got a genuine throwback that was gritty and felt like a 70's road picture.

Crimson Peak and Krampus are well worth a watch.
Town... Sundown is not even close to a slasher film, its atmospheric and another true throwback, perhaps one of the most underrated films of the last 10 years.
Chappie is another Johnny 5, its just way more violent and entertaining and IMO better than that overrated piece of crap District 9.

The original is preferable, but as great as a live action remake could possibly get.

I thought I'd hate Maleficent, I was wrong.
I despised Expendables 2, Part 3 blew me away. Mel is excellent.
The Purge is gritty action more than horror.

Go see the first two, immediately.
Parker is a throwback, it almost has a Night Moves like vibe, it completely caught me off guard.
Iceman has Michael Shannon in it, and he's a pleasure to watch, as usual.

It is badass.
Go see Seven Psychopaths, if like In Bruges especially.

I thought it was ****ed too, it made me love Almadovar even more. It was his homage to Jess Franco, one of my favorite filmmakers.
Not a Woody guy either, but this was top notch, his best film of the modern era.
If you like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, see Paul.
Scream 4 is easily the best sequel, violently underrated, almost as good as the original, if not equal to it.
War Horse was gushy, I like that sometimes. You hve to be in the mood.

 

Black Swan was an acquired taste.
Fell the same about Stone, was shocked at how good it was.

There's several personal reasons Away We Go resonated with me.
Cage and Herzog, there was no way this could be bad. Far better than the first Bad Lieutenant, and poor title since its not a sequel. Its a masterpiece.
Yeah it bombed, unfairly, Peter Jackson's best film since the original LOTR films.
I was let down by Basterds as well, its the lowest ranking QT film to date, but still better than most of the crap out.
Loved the original LHOTL and Virgin Spring, didn't have high hopes, this exceeded the original.
Not a huge fan of Patton's either, but he's a solid actor, has a Robin Williams like earnestness.
Up in the Air was a Clooney film about a guy who flies a lot.

Still haven't seen Cloud Atlas, can't bring myself to care.
Loved The Hobbit, but not close to as much as the LOTR's films.

Take Shelter was great, and doesn't get nearly enough love.

I still have't saw I Saw The Devil. Been meaning to. Same goes with 13 Assassins.
I was let down by Predators big time, I was expecting a lot though. Maybe too much.

Refused to watch A Proohet, it looked annoying.
Zombieland very overrated.

Hated Doubt, that being said, that may have something to do with me hating Streep, hating Viola Davis and hating Hoffman.
Love Tom Cruise, that was Oscar worthy, hated the rest of TT.

NCFOM was nothing but a bad pointless Peckinpah knockoff, Bardem was great, film was meh.
Damn, I forgot Superbad too.
