No, I'm just far more enlightened than most people.:D Because I've never been caught up in any mental gymnastics of having to please anyone, or caring what people think, or following a trend, or having to put on airs to act all erudite and cultured, or to prove I'm some haughty intellectual, I prefer blunt, harsh, violent, honesty.

I genuinely don't care who holds an opinion or why, whether they're trying to please the crowd and go along with the herd like groupthink, or if they genuinely believe it, and suck everyone in their group into their vortex. If I smell bull****, or view it as bull****, I call bull****.:deal:

Horror, Action, Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Exploitation in general, occasionally even softcore Erotica have been the whipping boys for all the the phony elitist film critics for decades, who like to put themselves and their opinions on some artsy fartsy pedestal above the rest of us plebs, cast aspersions on the working class that enjoy those types of films, while they blow smoke up the ass of dull crap like all the various period pieces that get nominated year in and year out.

On their best day most of these pretentious douchebags and wannabe intellectuals aren't capable of doing anything remotely close to the brilliance of Sam Peckinpah, Dario Argento, John Carpenter, etc. all of whom critics have scoffed at and criticized in the past, they simply follow the leaders and nod like automatons, because to dare go out on a limb and tell the truth, that something like They Live or Phenomena is a masterpiece, is far too risky for them and their "status", they're scum that lack the fortitude and bravery to speak for themselves, and truly stand by their convictions, because they're scared of what everyone will think about them if they think the unthinkable, and think and speak for themselves. ****ing cowards.

All true, and yet I still think the Slenderman trailer looks like dog****. You know, your aesthetic opinions remind me a bit of the French New Wave of the sixties. They loved westerns and film noir back when those were all considered intellectually bankrupt pulp genres like sci-fi or horror are today. They praised Johnny Guitar like it was Citizen Kane. It's not half bad, but they might have over done it.

You might be onto be onto something....:sisi1 There's a distinct reason for that, I just so happen to be a devotee of the Nouvelle Vague and its mindset, and all of the countless American directors knockoff styles that it spawned, as well as the Italian Neo-Realist movement that inspired the French New Wave. I haven't gotten around to doing my lists for films from the 60's, well I will in the next week, and they'll be packed with French films. I prefer Truffaut, Malle, Melville and Chabrol to Godard, who got a little too avant-garde and socialist realism, or full on Maoist for my liking around the late 60's. Leloach, Demy and Vadim are my favorites, Resnais and Rohmer, depends on the film. There's a reason why Jeanne Moreau is in my Top 5 list of favorite actresses as well.

Also the film critic and horror host Joe Bob Briggs had a little something to do with leading me down the path that eventually led to the French New Wave. Aside from his reviews, I still consider him to be one of the better political writers in the country

And for the record, I think Johnny Guitar is way better than Citizen Kane as well.

Also I try to never judge a film by its trailer. It either sets my expectations too high or too low, and can affect my overall enjoyment of the film if I let that influence my mindset too much.

Hot take: Leonard, Hearns and Hagler would all beat Golovkin.

Probably. They all had better technique and I think Leonard and Hagler were a little faster. The only real question mark in this whole equation is Hearn's chin. Golovkin's power might bail him out like Iran Barkley.

Gennady has never, ever shown the ability to be able to absorb a beating like Iran Barkley, who retained that ability all the way up to heavyweight. His durability is why he lasted the rounds required to finally detonate on Hearn's chin.

Some of the beatings Iran absorbed during his carer make Canelo/GGG II look like a pillow fight. Guy was absolute nails, and proved it about a dozen separate times.

565 people were somehow ended up watching this Youtube clip... which I find impressive, considering I doubt 565 cumulative people have even seen this dog **** mess of a movie since it came out 30 years ago to begin with...

What's your point? Have you ever even watched that bout? You'd be aware it was stopped because of the three knockdown rule if you had, not Iran being laid out on the canvas, and that Iran was absolutely ready to continue, and probably should have been given the chance to do so.

A fight that if it happened to one of your fighters nowadays you'd instantly cry "Bull****, he could have continued!".

Benn would have continued to knock him down and out, the ref didn't know there was a few seconds left.
