I think you're being a bit harsh in your assessment. 2013 had some terrific fights, like Bradley-Provodnikov and Seguara-Marquez. 2014 was a down year (kind of the equivalent of 2010), but still had some really entertaining fights scattered throughout the year. 2015 is still in its early stages, and we're pretty much guaranteed to get a memorable war when Mathysse and Provodnikov meet. So, that's only one down year out of the last three. And down years happen from time to time in any era.

Im kinda with you in that I was pretty down on boxing lately.... for me it was more about the fracturing in boxing not allowing the best fights to take place, and fighters now not only being protected but actually seeking the protection (Quillan, Stevenson, LSC) preventing a lot of good fights from happening. At the beginning of the year I was pretty negative about the state of the game, but 4 months in Ive kinda had to backtrack a bit and say things aren't as bad as I thought they were going to be this year Signed fights coming up soon... Lemieux vs Ndam - nice middleweight fight Canelo vs Kirkland - not an A level matchup given Kirklands context right now, but still it promises to be a violent one while it lasts. Pac vs Mayweather - meh. Overrated at this point, but at least its happening, for the sake of boxings reputation. Wlad vs Jennings - Lot of people aren't high on this fight but I think Jennings is a quality young fighter and I think this is a good matchup. Ruslan vs Matthysse - Enough said ---------------- Potentially on deck for 2015 Thurman vs Maidana (this sounds like it has the best chance right now of being Thurmans next fight) Kovalev vs Stevenson (Finally sounds like this fight may happen later this year) Frampton vs Quigg (Looks closer then ever to happening) All in all, I think this year, while may be a down year, wont look so bad once we review the entire 12 months. Although I know Im probably looking forward to a lot of these fights (like Lemieux Ndam and Canelo Kirkland) more then other people. A quick look back at 2014, there were a few solid fights as well - Froch vs Groves 2 - Salido vs Terdsak - Rodriguez vs Takayama - Matthysse vs Molina - Rosas vs Guerrero - Povetkin vs Takam (maybe not) - Mansour vs Cunningham wasn't bad - GGG vs Geale (not a 'good fight' but a highlight one for the year) - Crawford vs Gamboa - Loma vs Russell jr (not a 'good fight' maybe but a top matchup) - Guerrero vs Kamagai - Jennings vs Szpilka (a decent matchup between two young heavies) - Pascal vs Bute (eh.. maybe maybe not) Like you said, theres a solid list of good fights but was anything really epic? Depends on what ingredients someone wants in an epic fight I suppose. But while yes last year was indeed a down year for boxing, it wasn't as bad as I personally thought it was during the year, and I hope that's how this year turns out too (being better then I thought it was going to be) Though obviously I hope the last quarter of this year can bring in some truly good fights.
