SINYABI RETAINS HIS BELT

In the main supporting bout Macbute Sinyabi retained his IBO intercontinental featherweight title with by beating former SA featherweight champion Sydney Maluleka on points 15-113 on two cards and 115-112.

Sinyabi, 28, missed a lot of punches by trying to score from too far out but he landed enough to improve his professional record to 26-4, including three knockouts. Maluleka's dropped to 15-7; 9.

Both fighters spent a lot of time posing and swinging wildly and the 31-year-old Maluleke lost his gum guard several times, earning a stern warning from referee Lulama Mtya.

The tournament was presented by Ayanda Matiti of Xaba Promotions.
