Fight night is almost upon us!!! Starting to get excited.

- Picked Alvarado to beat Rios / means Tackle knocked me out hardcore in the title match, making me a pathetic 0-3 :-(

- Bet on the OVER for the donaire fight (over 9.5), so not only does Nishioka do completely nothing for half the fight, but then he doesnt make it to the 10th round! So now my pathetic vcash total is even worse

Bad decisions all the way around on my part this weekend. If I had been in vegas, this weekend would have hurt

I really wanted to win the peoples title this time damnit. Now Tackle is the first person to defend his title since Pinoy. And of course, who else to do it but Tackle really....

Ok... my thoughts on tonight.

Rios vs Alvarado

Damn, what a nice scrap. Its still not my fight of the year (that goes to Salido vs Lopez for me) but its the runner up and was an awesome awesome fight.

I appluad both these warriors for how they put it on the line tonight. They didnt have to fight eachother and they both knew this was going to be a bruiser, but they wanted it. Two guys that uplift the sport with that mentality.

Rios did better then I thought he would early on, with actually some succesful defense doing subtle slips and catches here n there. However, around the 3rd or 4th round he quit paying as much attention to his D, and I felt that Alvarado was starting to take over. And just when I thought Alvarado was going to start making the rounds harder and harder on Rios, Rios stuns him, then finishes him.

Rios punches harder then I thought he did, and the dude eats punches like their his favorite food once hes in the thick of it. But he also shows he has defence when he wants to.

Anyways, I was rooting for Rios to win, just didnt think he would be able to beat a bigger guy. He proved me wrong and I will be looking forward to his next fight. Which if boxing was legit, would be someone like Matthysse.

Rios vs Matthysse.... winner fights Pac.

Will that happen? No... because Lucas is GBP, and also because now im sure they dont want to derail Rios.

So I dont support the seemingly inevitable Pac vs Rios showdown. But I will def be watching.

 

Nishioka dissapointed me a little, and I dont mean for that to be disrespectful but Im just being honest. He was literally not throwing anything round after round... and did it turn out to be understandable? yes it did lol. But during those rounds it was very very frustrating.

I think Donaire looked good and also did a great job at fighting a guy who was spoiling for the first part of the fight.... it is not easy to land effectively on an elite opponent who wont do anything. I also think Donaires rythem and form looked decent. Not a horrible night for him, imo.

 

A lot of that does fall on Nishioka though.

I mean, I understand when an elite fighter shuts down another fighter.

But what happened tonight was a huge case of Nishioka simply not pulling the trigger.

Im just glad and impressed that Donaire was good enough to wait until Nishioka did open up and ended him. Would have been a real buzzkill had that fight gone the distance (even though I would have still had my vcash lol)

Donaire was def a boss tonight.
