"Why is he talking now? He knows the end is near. The only reason he is opening his mouth is to try to convince himself. He knows this kid is coming here to put a whupping on him." "I fought Yory Boy Campas, Ike Quartey and Raúl Márquez. Those fighters have more experience than me and I beat them all when everyone was saying that I was going to lose." Trinidad I'm a better fighter than Vargas because I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world," said Trinidad, who is undefeated at 38-0 31 KOs and is currently ranked within the top three in most pound-for-pound lists "Vargas is a baby," Trinidad commented of the 22-year old champion. "He can't beat me. What has he done that you would say he could beat me? I will knock him out. I can promise you that." ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This fight is a great fight to rewatch, or watch for the first time if youre a new boxing fan and havent seen it. It pits an established, p4p champion, vs a young, up and coming p4p talent (Vargas was rated 9th or 10th by the ring leading up to this fight I believe) Trinidad was the power punching star and Vargas the ferocious young warrior looking to claim his throne. They met in a violent clash and the fight lived up to any, and all, expectations. Juan Carlos Burgos vs. Frankie Archuleta- Juan Carlos Burgos by KO Jesus Pabon vs. Americo Santos- Jesus Pabon by KO Arden Diale vs. Julio Cesar Miranda- Julio Cesar Mirnada by KO Gilberto Keb Baas vs. Jose Antonio Aguirre- Gilberto Keb Baas by UD (Johnathon Banks fight was canceled due to Luan Krasniqi being sick) Big big weekend. Such a big weekend I'll make this into two posts. Lots of fights and most of them really good tough fights, a couple are pretty close to gimmie picks and without further adou my picks for this weekend and why. First up I've got Juan Carlos Burgos to stop Frankie Archuleta. Burgos is the much better fighter and far fresher fighter. Resume wise Archuleta wins there, but everybody notable he has fought, he has lost too. So, not really much to hang your hat on. He has fought the likes of Kevin Kelly, Rocky Juarez, Martin Honorio, and John Molina just to name a few. Burgos looks to add his name to that list and more than likely he will do that and stop Archuleta in the fight. Americo Santos is making a comeback...unfortunatly. I guess he needs money or something because he really shouldn't be in the ring. For those that don't know Santos back in his prime you can say in every fight he would take numerous blows and just basically the defination of a tough hombre. Santos-Morelo was a classic fight...a very underrated fight. Very action packed both fighters too thousands of blows, literally, that fight was like ****ing Fight Night or something. Just rock em sock em robot action. If you can get your hands on that fight you should because it really is a hell of a fight. In 2007 that was his last fight where he was stopped in one round and hasn't fought since. Unfortunatly though he is coming back to boxing, for whatever reason, and he is taking on Jesus Pabon. Pabon is pretty good. Doesn't have much pop on his punches, decent enough power. Has good skills, quick hands. You know, a solid fighter, solid all around. He will be taking on Santos and I don't think Santos will be able to keep up with Pabon. He will be eating punches all night from the outside, and walking into punches. Evenutally, the fight will probably be waved late in the fight. Santos has a big size advantage, but I don't think it will really matter since Santos doesn't use his height properly anyway. Unless Santos has reworked his style and has no rust on him whatsoever, I see Pabon winning by a late stoppage. I've got Julio Vesar Miranda by stoppage. He's better, Diale doesn't have the firepower nor does he have the experience to beat Miranda. I've got Gilberto Keb Baas to beat Jose Antonio Aguirre by decision. Aguirre has a lot of tread on that body and 7 of his last 9 fights have been L's. Not to mention, I bet Gilberto Keb Baas has a bit on a chip on his shoulder because back in the day when Aguirre was a titleholder at 105 Aguirre beat Juan Alfonso Keb Baas. So, it all comes back full circle about 8 years later Juan Alfonso's brother Keb Baas will beat Aguirre.

Maxim Vlasov vs. Isaac Chilemba- Maxim Vlasov by UD Antonio DeMarco vs. Reyes Sanchez- Antonio DeMarco by KO Brandon Rios vs. Miguel Acosta- Miguel Acosta by KO Starting off with the first fight on Showtime Antonio DeMarco-Reyes Sanchez. I'm intrigued for 2 reason, one is that this fight is taking place in Nebraska....and as far as I know I don't think I have seen a fight at Nebraska unless I just can't think of the fights that took place in Nebraska and I just forgot...and two is the fight itself. lol. Both are good fighters and should put some fireworks on. DeMarco very tough, more skilled than Sanchez, but Sanchez is no pushover. He is a tough fighter that has fought many good fighters as well. Miguel Vazquez, Ali Chebah, Rene Gonzalez, and Ricardo Dominguez. Same with DeMarco he's got a good resume in Jose Reyes, Anges Adjaho, and of course as everybody knows against Edwin Valero. I think, and Sanchez is a hot and cold fighter, sometimes he looks good and sometimes he looks bad. Who knows which Sanchez shows up, but either way i've got DeMarco to win by a mid to late round stoppage. Really looking forward to this fight between Maxim Vlasov and Isaac Chilemba. Both are really good upcoming fighters in the 168 and 175 division. Vlasov has mostly campaigned at 168 and Chilemba has moved jumped up and down, but will be a 175 fighter from here on out due to the fact that in his last fight against Tommy Oosthuizen he was drained and ended up fighting to a draw. Resume wise Chilemba has the much much better resume. Vlasov hasn't fought much and this will be his first fight against a realy quality opponent. Chilemba on the otherhand has fought Charles Adamu, Doudou Ngumba, Michael Bolling, and Oosthuizen. Not to mention, his only loss he has avenged that so in theory you can say he is undefeated. Stylewise I really like Vlasov. He has very good skills and is an all-around good fighter. Presses forward, uses the jab nicely, throws nice quick combos, and I really like his defense. He adapts on the defensive end, he will go into a philly shell and start doing the shoulder roll, and he will use the basic blocking stance as his D. He is versatile and is, well, since people know who Dmitry Pirog is that's sort of who Vlasov is. A bigger, slower Pirog. So, you know, just an all around good fighter, but it could be he looks good because of his opposition. With all that said, I think Vlasov will win due to the fact that he does travel and this will be Chilemba's first fight out of South Africa, weight could be a problem for him, and his lack of jab is really crucial. He didn't use it enough against the taller Oosthuizen and he really stuggled having that jab in his face. Vlasov uses his jab quite well and is very active with it. So, I've got Vlasov winning by UD in this fight. A fight where this should be the headliner because it is very interesting. Then we got the main event of the night!!! How can you not be pumped for this fight!? Brandon Rios and Miguel Acosta, son. Damn, this is a FOTYC. Fists will fly and I think this fight will end in a knockout. 70% sure somebody will knock someone out. The other 30% it could be a decision because both have strong wills, and massive heart, so it wouldn't be a shocker. Anyway, let's start with the challenger of the 135 belt, Brandon Rios. Rios, not much of a resume besides his minor upset win over Anthony Peterson other than that not much. Face firse brawler with massive heart and big power that looks to break you down with headache headshots and gut busting body shots. Then we got the champion Miguel Acosta, resume wise he is pretty thin as well, but he does have good scalps in Anges Adjaho when he was an undefeated prospect to look out for. and then back to back upsets against undefeated Urbano Antillon and undefeated Paulus Moses. Skillswise Acosta is very good to watch. Uses his jab, uses hooks, and uses uppercuts to the head and body. He uses it all. I like his defense where he goes into a philly shell and uses lots of head movement to get away from shots. He isn't afraid to fight off the ropes which he will probably be doing a lot against Rios and really counters and moves very well using nice footwork to spin off the ropes. With all that said, I've got Acosta winning by late KO. I think his boxing ability and power will weardown Rios and will get stopped late. This fight will probably look a lot like the Antillon fight where he was a very good action packed fight. I just think Rios with his style will eventually lose, and Acosta seems to have the tools to beat Rios and take another fighter's 0 away from him. Very much a 50/50 and one thing is for sure, is that there will be action and this will be a great fight whether who wins and how long it goes is a bit of mystery and we will have to find out the answer on saturday night.
He had fought Campas, Marquez, Winky Wright, Ike Quartey, and Trinidad, all within his first 20 fights. That is unheard of. And the here is another unbelievable fact about those fights. His fights with Winky Quartey Ross Trinidad all before or at his 20 fight mark as a pro, were all fought in the span of one year. Pretty crazy.
