I know he made such a mark in his small time at the top. Reminds me a bit of bowe, really really good in his prime but it was all too short lived.

It is a shame that him and mayorga didn't meet sooner.

* The Chilembe fight is purely guessing on my side, I would really love to go with him cos he looked the best he ever has against Tommy BUT I'm not too sure how well he'll travel...and from what I hear Vlasov is technically sound (be it against limited opposition)

Starting off with the first fight on Showtime Antonio DeMarco-Reyes Sanchez. I'm intrigued for 2 reason, one is that this fight is taking place in Nebraska....and as far as I know I don't think I have seen a fight at Nebraska unless I just can't think of the fights that took place in Nebraska and I just forgot...and two is the fight itself. lol. Both are good fighters and should put some fireworks on. DeMarco very tough, more skilled than Sanchez, but Sanchez is no pushover. He is a tough fighter that has fought many good fighters as well. Miguel Vazquez, Ali Chebah, Rene Gonzalez, and Ricardo Dominguez. Same with DeMarco he's got a good resume in Jose Reyes, Anges Adjaho, and of course as everybody knows against Edwin Valero. I think, and Sanchez is a hot and cold fighter, sometimes he looks good and sometimes he looks bad. Who knows which Sanchez shows up, but either way i've got DeMarco to win by a mid to late round stoppage.

Really looking forward to this fight between Maxim Vlasov and Isaac Chilemba. Both are really good upcoming fighters in the 168 and 175 division. Vlasov has mostly campaigned at 168 and Chilemba has moved jumped up and down, but will be a 175 fighter from here on out due to the fact that in his last fight against Tommy Oosthuizen he was drained and ended up fighting to a draw. Resume wise Chilemba has the much much better resume. Vlasov hasn't fought much and this will be his first fight against a realy quality opponent. Chilemba on the otherhand has fought Charles Adamu, Doudou Ngumba, Michael Bolling, and Oosthuizen. Not to mention, his only loss he has avenged that so in theory you can say he is undefeated. Stylewise I really like Vlasov. He has very good skills and is an all-around good fighter. Presses forward, uses the jab nicely, throws nice quick combos, and I really like his defense. He adapts on the defensive end, he will go into a philly shell and start doing the shoulder roll, and he will use the basic blocking stance as his D. He is versatile and is, well, since people know who Dmitry Pirog is that's sort of who Vlasov is. A bigger, slower Pirog. So, you know, just an all around good fighter, but it could be he looks good because of his opposition. With all that said, I think Vlasov will win due to the fact that he does travel and this will be Chilemba's first fight out of South Africa, weight could be a problem for him, and his lack of jab is really crucial. He didn't use it enough against the taller Oosthuizen and he really stuggled having that jab in his face. Vlasov uses his jab quite well and is very active with it. So, I've got Vlasov winning by UD in this fight. A fight where this should be the headliner because it is very interesting.

Then we got the main event of the night!!! How can you not be pumped for this fight!? Brandon Rios and Miguel Acosta, son. Damn, this is a FOTYC. Fists will fly and I think this fight will end in a knockout. 70% sure somebody will knock someone out. The other 30% it could be a decision because both have strong wills, and massive heart, so it wouldn't be a shocker. Anyway, let's start with the challenger of the 135 belt, Brandon Rios. Rios, not much of a resume besides his minor upset win over Anthony Peterson other than that not much. Face firse brawler with massive heart and big power that looks to break you down with headache headshots and gut busting body shots. Then we got the champion Miguel Acosta, resume wise he is pretty thin as well, but he does have good scalps in Anges Adjaho when he was an undefeated prospect to look out for. and then back to back upsets against undefeated Urbano Antillon and undefeated Paulus Moses. Skillswise Acosta is very good to watch. Uses his jab, uses hooks, and uses uppercuts to the head and body. He uses it all. I like his defense where he goes into a philly shell and uses lots of head movement to get away from shots. He isn't afraid to fight off the ropes which he will probably be doing a lot against Rios and really counters and moves very well using nice footwork to spin off the ropes. With all that said, I've got Acosta winning by late KO. I think his boxing ability and power will weardown Rios and will get stopped late. This fight will probably look a lot like the Antillon fight where he was a very good action packed fight. I just think Rios with his style will eventually lose, and Acosta seems to have the tools to beat Rios and take another fighter's 0 away from him. Very much a 50/50 and one thing is for sure, is that there will be action and this will be a great fight whether who wins and how long it goes is a bit of mystery and we will have to find out the answer on saturday night.

Although I've picked Rios officially, I hope this is a good fight, as usual, and would be very happy if Acosta pulls it out, and shows that the nice collection of 0's he's been eating, is no fluke.
