A classic fight, arguably the greatest of it's decade. What more could you ask of a fight? Drama, tension, fast hands, hard punches, iron chins and strong wills, not to mention the controversy that added spice to an already sizzling bout. Meldrick Taylor, in his prime, was something to behold. One of the most talented fighters to ever step foot in the squared circle IMO. His hand and footspeed was simply dazzling. But when you're fighting a 68 fight veteran, who hits like a mule and is thouroughly relentless, punishment will be taken, and sadly for Meldrick, this punishment was prolonged and devastating.

If anyone hasn't seen the fight I suggest they watch it!

    Rios KO's Acosta in 10th.

What a relentless pressure fighter he is. Completely broke down a VERY game Acosta who was dominating rios in the first 4 rounds. He's like a prime Margarito.

    Good fight, very good fight!

I was on the edge of my seat when Rios got wobbled hard by Acosta. The heart, toughness, and chin Rios showed tonight was top class. And Acosta deserves his props as well, you could tell the man was getting fatigued but still was game until the end. He did suprisingly well boxing off the back foot against such an unrelenting attack for quite awhile, and I thought that when he had Rios hurt, and Rios quit pressing there for a little while and started keeping in Acostas range and there to be had, that we might be witnessing the beginning of the end for Rios, but he pulled through and won in the manner of champions.

I hope that Acosta is ok, this fight will have taken a bit out of him, but when he comes back I wouldnt mind seeing him vs just about anyone in the division, and I hope Rios can continue to improve, and move on to bigger and better things. I would love to see him vs JMM.....

Great night...... and big congrats to Rios on his brave and champion calibre showing tonight. :good

Really harsh what happened to Taylor. Not only to be SOOO close to a victory and still not get it, but to get that brain damaged. Where a fight like Rios vs Acosta is what boxing is all about, what happened to Taylor is the opposite. The dark side of boxing.

I've seen a few of Taylors fights post Chavez, and he never looked remotely like the Taylor of before that horrific beating took place.

Getting robbed of a victory with a second to go, is cruel and unjust. But getting robbed of your future, your talent, your confidence, and ultimately your whole career, is much worse.
