Dang luf lol, sounds like a busy day.

Ya I tend to get sick of the general forum too. Honestly don't know why I post half the time lol. But at least it still has its share of good posters, just seem few and far between.

Next month looks to be actually pretty awesome, can't wait. The bantam tourny fights will be spectacular showdowns.

Not familiar with prizefighter other then its a tv competition right? I wouldn't have a problem adding a few of their fights. As long as they are half decent scraps.

This segment will be devoted to getting to know some of boxings
bright prospects, fighters who arent top 10 in the world just yet (ring ratings),
and have never challenged for a world title.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the first edition, we will be taking a look at Mikey Garcia, a fighter who falls right on the cusp between prospect and contender, but I feel is still green enough to consider a prospect as we come on the verge of his fight with Remillard.

NEXT FIGHT: Saturday, March 26th (This Saturday!)

    -----------------------
Mikey Garcia belongs to one of the most prominent boxing families in the sport. His father and trainer is none other then Eduardo Garcia. Older brother Robert "Grandpa" Garcia won the IBF super featherweight crown.

Miguel started fighting as an amateur at age 14, winning gold medals at the 2004 Junior Nationals and the 2005 National Police Athletic League Championships.

Mikey has graduated from Ventura Counties Police Academy, having set himself in the right direction in hopes to have a career path when the time comes after boxing.

Well it's an 8 man elimination tournament, so after the first round 4 are left, then after the next round 2 are left then obviously the next round sees the winner decided.

It's 3-3 minute rounds per fight. And it's over within one night.

So basically picking a winner means picking one guy out of 8 names.

Ali Chebah vs. Ajose Olusegun- Ajose Olusegun by KO
Albert Sosnowski vs. Alexander Dimitrenko- Alexander Dimitrenko by MD
Dmitry Pirog vs. Javier Francisco Maciel- Dmitry Pirog by KO
Tshifiwa Munyai vs. Danilo Pena- Tshifuwa Munyai by UD
Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Jorge Solis- Yuriorkis Gamboa by KO
Jorge Diaz vs. Teon Kennedy- Jorge Diaz by KO
Miguel Angel Garcia vs. Matt Remillard- Miguel Angel Garcia by KO
Denton Vassell vs. Bethuel Ushona- Bethuel Ushona by SD

Yes, the weekend is finally almost here. Good fights this weekend and really excited about tomorrow on as Antonio Escalante steps back in the ring to take on Alejandro Perez on telefutura. Real good fight and really looking forward to seeing Tony comeback and see what changes he has made since Ronny Shields is his new trainer now.

Now, on to the list first up is Olusegun and Chebah. I've seen Olusegun a few times, he's pretty good. Chebah seems to have decent skills as well, but his resume is lacking and he hasn't faced as quality opponents as olusegun has. Chebah's only really quality opponent was Reyes Sanchez, who DeMarco just fought, and he (Chebah) got KO'd. So, I gotta figure Olusegun should win this fight, and win this fight pretty easily and probably get a stoppage as well.

Sosnowski-Dimitrenko is interesting fight. For one when there is a fight in Germany involving a Germany fighter and it's a pretty even fight it is always interesting. Sosnowski, has a couple of good wins and a couple of bad losses, and Dimitrenko doesn't nearly have enough quality opponents on his resume as does Sosnowski. Dimi's only really big time opponent was Eddie Chambers and he was getting beaten up badly from pillar to post....and Eddie Chambers only managed to get a MD. I don't no if Sosnowski can do that, and even if he does he may only manage to get a draw....so I've got Dimi winning by MD.

Pirog has a nice little homecoming fight. A nice little reward in facing javier F Maciel. Who is decent and solid, but Pirog should have no issues and should win rather easily by KO.

I've got Munyai winning by UD here. He is the better fighter, fighting at home, and Pena isn't all that good.

Then we got the real meat and potatoes of the weekend. We have four excellent fights, three fights in which all 6 prospects are taking each other on and putting their 0's on the line. We'll start with the one across the pond in Denton Vassell and Bethuel Ushona. Vassell really good kid from across the pond, exciting young fighter. Ushona is a very very good opponent very fast, very tight defense when he isn't off balance throwing the right hand, and can fight off the back foot and really boxes really really well and this will be by far Vassell's biggest test to date. Vassell has a good workrate, very aggressive, and has good stamina. He had a war last year against Purdy in which he won the Commonwealth, the title in which is on the line. Of course, though stamina will be probably be in favor of Ushona considering he has fought in over 10 rounds almost half his career, but anyway like I sais Ushona can box really well and he is very fast. My only concern is how strong he is mentally and physically because Vessell will really test him, because Vessell is really Jeff Lacy like. He's built like a tank and he comes forward, defense is leaky, but makes up for it by throwing punches in bunches. Alright, let's see I'll quit typing and just make a pick, and you know, I think Ima call an upset. I've got Ushona winning by SD....and I say by SD is because Vessell is in his hometown. I do think it will will be a really close fight and you know I'm really looking forward to seeing this fight. Really interesting to see. Can't wait!

Miguel Angel Garcia-Matt Remillard, the second of our three undefeated prospect fights. Garcia has a very strong resume for being a prospect. Early on in his career he won a close 8 round UD over Walter Estrada, then last year he beat up on the very durable Cornelius Locke, and in his recent fight he knocked out Olivier Lontchi in 5. While, Remillard doesn't have as strong as a resume, it's still pretty solid. he's got wins over Mauricio Pastrana, Rafael Lora, and Carlos Rivera. Stylewise Matt Remillard is quick, comes forward, aggressive, and decent power. Remillard though will have to really box off the back foot if he wants to win because I believe Garcia is bigger, more power, and is stronger. And with all that I see Garcia eventually just overwelming Remillard, who has bad defense, and Garcia uses his boxing skills, aggression, and power to stop Remillard. Garcia really is the complete package. Very good all around fighter.

Let's take a break from the prospects and go to the main event on HBO and that is Yuriorkis Gamboa and Jorge Solis. We all know Gamboa, high skill, fast hands, fast feet, power in both hands, good boxing IQ and all that good stuff. He is the complete package, but you gotta think that his last two opponents, have been his best opponents and they both hung around and did give Gamboa some problems...or at least Orlando Salido did, Jonathan Victor Barros didn't, but anyway back to my point these two have been his best opponents and Gamboa didn't put them away and sort of had that lackadaisical attitude and that comes from either, frustration that he didn't or was unable to put them away, or he just wanted to get some rounds in with some tough fighters. Either way, it brings up some red flags to me surrounding Gamboa. It just makes me wonder what happens when he is facing a fighter that stays right with him round after round and doesn't get bothered by what Gamboa does. I'm not saying Solis will answer these questions these are basically questions that will get answered in the future. Now onto Solis, tough hombre, slow, coming back down to 126, strong, etc. Solis is a very tough fighter and I think he will go rounds with Gamboa. Since that seems to be the theme when Gamboa has fought really good fighters. I see Gamboa though stopping Solis late as speed and power might eventually get to him. And Solis coming back down to 126 is interesting as he may'be a bit weight drained.

Teon Kennedy and Jorge Diaz is a great fight. Really wish this was going to be apart of the HBO card, but unfortunatly it isn't. I don't see what the problem is and why it isn't on the telecast to make it a great tripleheader. Anyway, not exactly too high on either fighters. Teon Kennedy has really gotten lucky in a couple of fights, he could easily have a blemish already on his record, but he doesn't so good on him. And the same can be said for Diaz as well. He's gotten very lucky a couple of times as well, but let's not dwell on the past and let's focus on the now. Fact is both are decent prospects and both are undefeated. So, resume wise, both really don't have any notable victories, but Kennedy has went 12 rounds once and has been scheduled for 12 rounds three times. In his first 12 round fight he fought Francisco Rodriguez and he killed him, won a controversial decision against Berenza, and stopped Becerra in 10 rounds. Anyway, stylewise Diaz is strong, very good power, and has horrible stamina. After a couple of rounds he gets tired. He really needs to work on that if he wants to be a good fighter. And Kennedy doesn't use his skills enough, he stands in the pocket way too long and gets hit a lot. Way more than he should and against somebody like Diaz that will get him knocked out. Basically, I see both fighters are decent fighters right now. They have a lotta work to do they can easily get beat by the right style of fighter, but they have a high celing. They both are still young enough to work on things and get better, but anyway I want to pick Kennedy to win, but I think Diaz will break him down and knock him out late. Tough 50/50 fight.
