Wladimir Klischko (35) vs David Haye (30) for the IBF/IBO/WBA Super/WBO/Ring Heavyweight Championship

A lot of belts on the line here in this long awaited (overdue) unification bout.
Wlad brings his IBF/IBO/WBO and Ring belts, and Haye brings the WBA (wich is instantly upgraded to "Super") belt with him. But it isn't for the undisputed title, with Vitali's (WBC) still there.
Maybe some of the smaller sanctioning bodies (WBF, IBA etc) puts in one of their vacant belts trying to make themselves more legitimate, you never know.

    On to the fight itself.

Like many here know, I like Wlad and I dislike Haye and I'm obviously picking Wlad to win this. And it might be hard to look at this at an objective view (because it isn't).
I will be there (leaving for Germany on a friday) and hope and expect for a massive KO win from Wlad.

Here's my lowdown on the bout.

Haye's only chance in this is to TKO (not KO) Wlad and his biggest window is in the first 3 rounds of the fight, before Wladimir is settled and starts pounding Haye mercilessly with his jab.
In my opinion he has to fight in his own style (on the backfoot, cirlcling) but with a lot more spurts and much, much higher punchoutput (3x) as usual.
If he catches Wlad with a big one, don't go running in like a fool and start mauling away like he's used to, but settle down, look for an opening and pick his punches.
When he is able to take Wlad down and keep him in trouble he should then unload to try and force the stoppage.
If the fight goes on, and both are stil standing in the later rounds Haye should look for the money shot ever so often, cause there's no way he's going to outpoint Wlad.
Doing a Tyson impersonation or trying Sanders'or Brewster's method will most likely end face down on the canvas because Haye doesn't have the tools and certainly not the chin for that.

Wladimir has a lot more methods to beat Haye.
If he uses his usual jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, oops right hand, jab, jab, jab routine he will eventually wear Haye down like all his current opponents and KO him late, or take no chances at all and outpoint him by a landslide.
    But there are a couple of wildcards and attention points here;
    - First of all are the first couple of rounds, in wich Haye actually can be predictably unpredictable.
Chances are Haye will look for the early KO and Wlad would be smart if he commits to countering Haye full force. He will win the rounds anyway, so no problem if he gets in a few less jabs.
This will be a) A lot safer and b) There's a real chance he catches Haye with something big himself, ending the fight early.
    - Second there's the chin issue... Both have bad chins, but Haye's looks even worse. Haye (like his fans and the Britsh press) like to make fun of Wladimir's chin and the fact he's been down 11 times already.
But let's look beyond that for a minute. Wlad has been down 11 times in 58 fights = 0.19 times a fight, Haye has been down 5 times in 26 fights = 0.19 times a fight! Hey wait... that can't be right, can it?
And then we have to consider Haye's significantly worse opposition, and the fact that he fought as a cruiser most of his career and hasn't fought many real punchers yet.
So there is quite a chance he can't cope with Wladimir's punches at all and will go down at the first good punch Wlad connects with. Or with Wlad pulls out one of his sudden left hooks and it's bye bye Kansas.

Another way for Wlad to win the fight is beïng more agressive as usual and adopt his brothers massive punchoutput style, clubbing with his right until Haye buckles.
This of course is a lot more dangerous, but much more exciting way to try and win the fight. A counter "Hayemaker" and he in serious trouble.

Last (and most exciting) method, is Wlad going back to his old style of "seek and destroy" trying to take out Haye early.
Don't think he will, because although he will probably succeed against a smaller chinny Heavyweight like Haye, this gives Haye a real oppertunity to pull the upset.
Unlike his brother he doesn't have a granite chin to fall back on if things go south, and this method has a big chance to work but might turn into a nightmare just as well.

    Conclusions:

Haye will try to fight Wlad using his power, speed and lateral movement. Trying to avoid Wlad's jab and land a counter money shot.
Wlad will try to outbox Haye from behind his jab, using his tight defence and height/reach advantage stopping Haye late.

I expect the difference here will be Wlad's superior defence and punchoutput and win KO6/7

Wlad is off to an early lead... I wonder if this will wind up more one sided then one would think :think

I've read this 4 times and I don't exactly know what you mean.

If you mean to make it part of a huge forum bet with all Haye and Wlad backers are put together and all will have to wear the same avatar if they lose, then NO!

I'm preparing one nice avatar for you and I'm expecting to win. So you've to wear that one.
I have no problem to wear the "forum default" in case Haye pulls the upset.

If this is not what you meant, please explain.

Our bet won't be affected really. I'll still use the avatar of your choice and you'll do the same.

All I would do is put the Haye and Wlad backers all together and the winners will be able to suggest several avatars for the losers to wear. Just basically a way of getting loads of the forum to risk their avatars for the fight.

It doesn't change our bet at all, my first post was badly worded. :good

Kirk: superb job with all the updates, man, where do you get all the free time? Good idea implementing Luf's P4P method. Please also add *2009 CHAMPION* to my name so people would start calling me Sir or Champ BigBone.
