Rewatched the fight under hbo commentary and the sound sounds clearer than my primetime broadcast and i'm more convinced that ortiz was a fool.

You clearly see cortez motion them in and say let's go, the gloves touch, joe points to the time keeper and ortiz still goes for the hug like a complete tool.

I think ortiz is a muppet for losing his cool in such a big fight after the bravery he'd displayed against berto.

Of all the people to stand defenceless in front of, you don't pick the most accurate man in the sport 20 seconds after blatantly headbutting him.

What a complete idiot. So frustrating.

Gloat all you want, you're still only number two:deal

Perhaps another big Christmas avatar bet like last year? Should be plenty of GOOD fights to pick and choose from.

    Nice avy btw

Something will surely come up. Like Nishioka-Marquez. :yikes

Brag not Tackie, I already picked up the Kirk Trophy, the KO Artist Medal, the Cash King Crown and the Larry Merchant Award for H2H Excellence.

Agree except for Sturm - Macklin. Could have went both ways I reckon.

really? I thought it a pretty clear victory for Macklin. Very similar to Huck vs Lebedev

Alright.... my take on what happened is fairly simple.

Ortiz was using his head a lot in the 4th round, then he straight up smashes Mayweather in the mouth with it, and then (and it seems that most people dont touch on it) he does try to hit mayweather when mayweather is looking at the ref as well.

So honestly? I really dont blame mayweather at all, and I think if a fighter wants to take it there, and make it that kind of fight, then he better nut up and be ready for what happens next.... Ortiz made it a street fight, Mayweather obliged, and one man was left standing. Thats just the way I look at it.

I was rooting for Ortiz to win this fight, bigtime, but if Im being honest thats the way I see it.

But anyways, I was thouroughly entertained.... went to hooters with about 12 buddies and watched it in a packed place with tv's aaaalllll around, and with everyone there intent on watching the fight and cheering and jeering... it was great.

When that moment happened, I was OUT OF MY MIND for about 10 seconds  I kept saying 'Oh my God!' over and over  :patsch

Anyways, very interesting fight and finish. I will be the first to admit how wrong I was about this matchup.... I really thought Ortiz was better off just going crazy on floyd and not hanging back and trying to box him from the outside. I never would have thought that it would have been Floyd walking Ortiz down at any time during the first 4 rounds. I really thought Ortiz's strength and youth would show to bully Floyd a bit.... but Floyd was just superb to me. He is a master (no, I am not a floyd fan).

I figured he would win a UD, I really, really didnt think he would stop him, and I for sure thought that Ortiz would win the early rounds.... but Mayweather had Ortiz in check much of the time.

Entertaining fight for me, and WAR MORALES! So happy he won..... what a great warrior. I would like to see him retire, but I know he wont. Still though, its an honor watching that man fight.

Also, Merchant pissed me off. I know other people loved what he did, but honestly I cant stand people who have never tasted their own blood inside the ring like that, to be as brash with real fighters the way Merchant is. Thats just me. I am by no means a Mayweather fan, but I just cant stand Larry anymore.

Kirk, If I could reach through my computer screen I'd kick your ass!

Nah, man, I just wanted to say that, but being serious now, it was unprofessional of Larry to do that. I thought it was funny as hell and didn't have a problem with it, but it was unprofessional and I can definitely see how it rubbed people the wrong way.

    :lol::yep

Nah I could see how it was funny to a lot of people, but me and my friends had started arguing right after the fight  They were all saying mayweathers a ***** (they all hate him and were rooting for ortiz, except 1 of them) and even though I was against Mayweather I had to defend him, and we were getting all heated  Then I see that on the screen and I was already pissed so it rubbed me the wrong way even more.

Man what a crazy night though
