Kiwi/Aussie Whittaker to make debut in UFC 160

Robert Whittaker, a railways electrician only months ago, has been booked to make his UFC debut in UFC 160, in Las Vegas. The Sydneysider who won the welterweight division of the inaugural The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes series, and his opponent will be The Ultimate Fighter 16 winner Colton Smith.

“To get this news is unbelievable, dumfounding,’’ Whittaker said last night. “Before The Ultimate Fighter I was appearing before a couple of hundred people at most. Now I’m on the card of a Las Vegas blockbuster . . . this is every Australian fighter’s dream.”

Born in New Zealand, Whittaker moved to Australia with his family as a child and represented the Aussies against Great Britain is ‘The Smashes’ reality TV series.

Colton Smith, as in the lay and pray master?

I don't see this ending well for Robbie. His best chance is on the feet and Colton is a boring take down and smother type of fighter.

 

Hard to get excited for a fight involving Colton Smith.

Matching the winners off is a good idea bit Colton showed good powers of recovery and Whitaker only has a standing game.

Whittaker has some pretty heavy hands and quick snappy kicks. He won the TUF Australia vs UK series winning 2 or 3 fight via quick KO.

Very confident and entertaining fighter.

Well to be fair a lot of Aussie posters on here chuck 'pom' insults around. I get on with the majority of 'em though, Scurla doesn't get on with anyone

 

I don't hate anyone. I just have an extremely low tolerance threshold for idiots and racist trolls. So i really wouldn't pay too much attention to that ***** who spends more time calling my name than he does posting anything of any value.
