We tried to warn you guys - but you just wouldn't listen. What Parker fans know - is that Ruiz is FAR better than advertised. We saw it very clearly in 2016. Yes - he is 6.0 ft and fat. But he took it to Parker the same way. If you can - look for Kevin Barry's comments at the Parker-Matchroom press conf just before yesterday's fight. Barry tells the whole room how much better Ruiz will be than they think. All kiwis know this.
Curious how did you score the Parker - Ruiz fight? I don’t remember Ruiz throwing his hands as active against Parker as he did Joshua.
Ruiz also didn’t have the openings on Parker to throw leather like he did against Joshua and it wouldn’t have mattered anyway, since one thing that Parker is blessed with is a very good chin.
Parker rolled with the punches better than AJ... clearly better chin as well. God damn can we start showing Parker some more respect.lol
Parker has a great chin but I think his confidence was low against Whyte after the AJ fight, he needs more self-belief and he can become world champion again.

He strikes me as a guy who possesses one of the best chins in the division but doesn't fight like he believes he does. I think with the right mentality he will be hitting his peak and could be the undisputed champ in the near future.
I personally don’t put much stock in how great Ruiz is based on rhe Parker fight because I don’t consider Parker to be all that. He’s durable, game and steady in one gear but not explosive or dynamic in any way. Ruiz fights in spurts. He does have some explosiveness but on the whole coasts a lot and rarely fights 3 minutes a round. This is a guy who struggled to a very close decision over White Wolf Liakhovich after Wilder had left the wolf twitching on the floor in one round.
I had Parker 7-5. In my view the range of reasonable scores were 8-4 Parker to 7-5 Ruiz. In my view, the best argument for Parker was that there were long stretches of each round with nothing landed but a Parker jab, although to be fair most of those were not powerful or clean. Ruiz Jr got the better of the majority of exchanges (his hands are even faster than Parker's), however: - there were so few exchanges, especially in the second half of the fight; - Parker did land some good shots in the exchanges too, especially when he kept distance; - Parker has a good chin and wasn't rocked by the shots he took At the time I remember thinking that if Ruiz Jr showed more aggression and fought a weak-chinned champion he could definitely win. I didn't think that was Joshua.
Ruiz getting knocked down by AJ was good for Ruiz because when AJ came in to finish him, he opened himself up to a Ruiz left hook. Before that, Ruiz really wasn't getting a decent shot in. AJ got hurt again in that same round and then out came scared AJ who didn't look right when he came in to begin with. As Usyk was saying - AJs problem was mental. Parker felt that Ruiz hit harder than Joshua. Joshua felt that power a lot on that third round. Ruiz is a pressure fighter who knew he had his opponent hurt and thats why he was far more active in this fight than oppose to the Parker fight.
