This is a great move. If he hangs around at 130 another couple years waiting for a shot at Mikey it might not happen. Beating a titlist at 135 would put pressure on Mikey. Both Loma and Garcia want Flanagan. I say if Garcia gets him Loma should fight Linares to outdo Mikey. That would really make Loma-Mikey hot.

I think Mikey wants it, and it's just his pride that has to insist he beat better versions of Salido and Martinez, he's not looking for a way out or even talking down Loma as a negotiating ploy. The rivalry's building and it has to happen.

I don't think Loma should close the door on 130 though. He's really too small for 140, and by the time he gets there Crawford's probably moved to ww. So fight Flanagan or Linares and Mikey, then no reason he can't fight Salido, Corrales, and Gamboa at 130.

Flanagan would be easy pickings for Lomachenko. He should move up and capture the WBO LW strap, then unify against any of the others title holders in the division, which are all intriguing fights in their own right, especially Mikey Garcia.

Loma fight Flanagan for his belt, while Mikey fight Linares to Unify, then the winners can unify with each other. Not sure how Easter fits into all this, but he should fight the winner.

Egis said the plan is WBO title vs Flanagan, then defend once, and then fight Mikey.
..Defending the 135 WBO title may be against a mandatory rather than Easter or Linares?

Nice way to test the waters at 135.
I'd actually prefer him to pick up another belt at 130 against Corrales or Berchelt....but this is good too

Call somebody out, then say you want to take on a paper champ first lol. Why not go after Easter, instead of the easy pickings with Flannagan?

Mikey has said Loma doesn't make for a compelling enough fight because he's smaller and his best wins are over guys he beat earlier. So even if there are better fights outside of Mikey for Loma at his natural weight of 130 taking a title and a scalp or two at 135 would put pressure on Mikey. If Loma stays at 130 Mikey could move up to 140 in a year without feeling any need to fight him. It seems like Loma wants the fight now because it's his toughest challenge but Mikey doesn't want it quite yet.

Flanagan rather than a Haymon fighter would be easier to make for Arum, and we know Arum likes the WBO. Easter's good but he can go to the back of the line behind Loma, Mikey, and Linares because they all beat him, and make for way better fights against each other.

Easter would whoop Flanagan's arse right now. I was just pointing out that Lomachenko is picking the easiest titlist at the weight class. And Arum and Haymon work together now if need be so no excuses.

I agree Easter would whoop Flanagan, and it would be nice and probably fairest if he got the shot and got in the picture with the elite. Arum is now willing to work with Haymon but he would surely prefer not to. I think Lomachenko-Flanagan is likely next.

Lomachenko should go ahead and knock Salido out, then fight for the title, or fight for the title, then knock Salido out, then fight Garcia. He will out skill Garcia..........

I don't like Loma wasting his prime on a B grader like Flanagan and a move up to 135 where he clearly wont be the same fighter anyway - but given this, Flanagan is the most reasonable option to test the waters at a weight he's too small for. I wanted him to establish himself as the greatest FW/SFW of all time and then move up at like age 31-32 and then retire on a speculative LWW cherry picked belt fight.

He probably wont get the credit he deserves if fights are more competitive than they should be at 135. People will dismiss him like they're dismissing Roman Gonzalez for operating on this weight class. The only people that will understand are the knowledgeable amongst even the more hardcore fans.

I really don't rate Turbo but I'll say one thing... when Loma stops him it will be after a 10 count or the ref's intervention. There's no quit in him that's for sure, but he's simply not fit to lace Loma's gloves...
