there is some truth to that but wald is 6'7'', very mobile and has killer power so it makes it very hard to land.

i thought larry merchant made a great point. u can land that 1st shot at klit, but its very hard to land that second, third or combination of punches.

sorry, relentless. you're probably going to have to put up with his chicken **** style for awhile :D

he also has a paper mache defense and swells badly...if he's going to win, povetkin is certainly going to earn it by taking an awful beating. but yes, he needs to take wlad into the late rounds and hope he panicks then gasses. that's all he's got....thompson is one of the most busy hws today but he could only win 1 of 10 rounds against wlad. most of the punches tony landed were in the clinch to wlad's body which were pretty ineffective and harmless. that skewed the punch stats...wlad landed all the big punches

Wlad is much too experienced to panic, and I feel he will be able to tee off on Povetkin when he wants. The conventional style will make this a comfortable fight for Wlad.

I also think that Povetkin poses the most serious threat to Wlad out there. Povetkin has the tools to beat Wlad IMO,but as far as I have undestood from the interviews both Wlad and his camp are looking for a different trophy:the giant from Russia,Valuev.

Tua couldnt stop Hawkins who was brutally knocked out by Virchis. What makes you think that today's poor version of Tua has any chance at all to beat today's version of Wlad??
In all likelyhood Tua will get slaughted and stopped for the first time in his long pro career against Klitschko!

Actually, the IBF mandated Wlad defend against Povetkin no later than November. There were rumors Wlad/Povetkin would be on the same card as Vitali/Peter in October. The fight will take place this year no doubt :good

It's good to see Wlad will fight 3 times in a calender year

I could definately see Povetkin giving Wlad problems, possibly even beating him. Stylistically he is all wrong for him, his high workrate and pressure would offset Wlad and keep him tentative. Unfortunately I'm not sold on Povetkin's defence (His chin isn't proven either), and he is bound to get some bombs thrown at him from Wlad. Whether or not he can avoid/take these bombs and still fight back effectively is the question. Eddie Chambers landed some really good flush rights hands, this could be his downfall against Wlad. I'm currently leaning towards Wlad by mid round TKO, although he would have a very hard time up untill that point (possibly being dropped, behid on scorecards). I won't be suprised if both fighters go down at some point.

    :thumbsup

I can't see a guy getting busted-up by Eddie Chambers in one fight and beating the Heavyweight Champ in his next fight. Perhaps you see something that I don't, but Klit is all wrong for Povetkin: a punishing jab and heavy hands put that sitting duck away early.

Yes, I think those of us who have known/seen Sasha for a while see a lot more than the Eddie Chambers fight.

I'm going all the way back to his amateurs days, and the fact that he apparently was quite ill and not himself against Chambers. I think people neglect that Povetkin can change what he's doing, while he was still aggressive as an amateur he also wasn't just wildly swarming, he was very precise and a very good technical boxer too; in amateur terms Povetkin is the most accomplished and greatest Super Heavyweight to have competed. I think that he has a lot more than just charging forward with his head down taking Wlad's punches; and I think his workrate and toughness will carry him to a win over Wlad. Povetkin is a natural fighter, that is just what he does. Wlad is a person who boxes because he's good at it.

You are absolutely right in saying this, kolya!

Povetkin did the job done against Chambers without looking really great.Nevertheless he beat an undefeated and very decent young American heavy who didnt enter the ring to lose and collect an easy paycheck.
Povetkin has a proven track record at the amateurs, and he has shown some pretty convincing and impressive performances against good opposition at the pros up to now.
He has all the tools to beat Wlad, but I would probably prefer watching him fight 2 or 3 durable and decent opponents first before taking on Wlad.
I am still not totally sold on Povetkin's stamina. It may turn out to be a decisive factor in a long and demanding fight against Wlad.
