Its not a good post, its exactly that completely out of date uninformed thinking thats partially responsible for the current obesity epedemic and people accepting it.

People really need mandetory base level of nutritional education before spewing this nonsense.

Cardiovascular endurance has nothing to do with your bodyfat %

Seriously how dumb are the people here?

Do you really assume someone that is shredded with super low bodyfat% has amazing stamina?

Also if any of the above mentioned people had hired a proper s&c coach to get them leaner they would have been more mobile and even quicker than they were.

Juan Diaz had a S & C coach (Brian Caldwell) Rios had Angel "Memo" Heredia and is now working with Alex Ariza. Most fighters that fight at a high level have them. Ricky Burns is one of the few that does not.

Contrary to popula belief, 'starvation mode' does not exist, or at least not in the way u think it does. Google the psmf diet, which is basically a starvation diet, and see how many ppl got shredded from it. Starvation mode is more or less bro science, experiments have shown us that it doesn't had a drastic effect on the body as we used to think it did.

Also as far as bodyfat levels to, it's as simple as calories in vs calorie out. Ppl have lost weight and reciever washboard abs eating icecream and cheeseburgers every day. There's a popular thing going around the fitness industry today called IIFYM (if it fits your macros) where u can eat whatever u want as long as u keep ur daily total within the macros u allocate urself

Also as far as metobolism goes, it's more or less comprised of activity level and appetite. There have been many studies showing us how little metabolism varies within individuals, a very low percentage. But of course u keyboard warriors armed with person anecdotes know better than the scientists who conduct these studies and experiments

Except if it's simply calories in vs out, macros are an irrelevance and you should not even be mentioning them. You can't have it both ways. Of course calorie intake is important, that should not be disputed. If you overeat, you will put on weight and fat regardless of macros. If what you said was true, most young men who moderately exercise with a stable BMI within a certain range would be ripped.

Which is why I said 'as far as bodyfat levels go, it's simply calories in vs calories out' because I knew someone would bring that up. Macros only come into play when u want to keep hormones regulated (by eating enough fat) or I u want to perserve or put on lean body mass (by eating enough protein)

    1) Which part of my post strikes you as most uninformed, and why? That environmental factors outside of simple calories in/calories out play a role in obesity? Please, do tell.

    2) Partially responsible for the current obesity epidemic?

Dude, if you don't like the info, give me all the ****ing credit for creating the obesity epidemic or nothing at all. No half measures. :nono

And while we're at it, I'm also taking credit for the epidemics of lazy, entitled children and uninformed pseudo-nutritional experts that rag on others on boxing message boards.

I know all about the PSMF diet. It's a quick "fix" that's ultimately unsustainable and destroys alot more than "just" fat. The person using it may get ripped in the short term, but like diets of that ilk, will usually repay the lost weight back with interest. There's no substitute for a long term, sustainable healthy eating plan complete with a balance of fats, protein, fiber, and complex carbohydrates. Eating an assload of green and orange vegetables is a good starting place.

Too much protein for too long, and your kidneys pay the price. Eliminate fat and your depression is going to kick in. And so on and so on. The sourcing of where those things come from is much more important. Treat the body like a long-term investment and not a short-term speculative option, and that's that.

That's all fine and good, however u said

"Cut out too many calories too fast, and your body will respond by putting itself in a "starvation safeguard" state where whatever you do it will be converted almost immediately into fat, your "work ethic" be damned."

I then proved how that was wrong, and you even admitted that PSMF/starvation diets can get you ripped in the short term, despite u previously stating that "where whatever you do it will be converted almost immediately into fat"

I really dont want to come off as some fitness snob, or some elitist *******, but its coming to the point where it is pointless to try and educate u guys.

u all have ur (false) beliefs, and are going to stick by them no matter what. Fine by me, think what u want

You didn't prove my statement wrong, all you did was show I obviously wasn't clear enough in implying that "immediately" didn't begin until once the diet was actually over, and that's my fault for not being more clear. At which point, yes, the weight one gains back will primarily be fat.

So yeah, you get "ripped" for that short span that you can use it, but there's a reason no professional athlete uses it. The PSMF diet is for really fat people in hopes that they can learn better habits in the meantime and have so much fat to lose that they'll still have a net loss after the gainback. That's the goal, but not the usual end result. Exceptions exist.

Bodybuilders use it because bodybuilders have no qualms about long term effects, athletic performance, or post-diet gainback so long as they're as ripped as possible for the show. Let a boxer try that, and I'll show you a guy asking to get knocked out and put in the hospital.

I'll give you that, if all one cares about is looking as ripped as possible in a month, the PSMF diet can be a solution. So can meth. So, I guess you "schooled" my uneducated ass.

You once again show you know nothing.... no athlete use psmf? are you high?
Do you have any idea how many athletes that have to compete in a ceirtan weight class use it because it spares the muscle tissue?

And the post diet rebound can happen but if you transition into maintenance slowly you do not regain the fat only the lost water and glycogen.

If you know what you are doing a short term psmf is very helpful and quite safe.

Some of you guys are bonkers. Everyone can get ripped if they have a good healthy diet and exercise level, granted some people have to work harder to get to the level of another person. It's going to be an easy victory for vlad and possible stoppage if he wants to ko povetkin.

Someone explain to me how different levels of hormones eg testosterone etc. effects muscle growth and weight loss - as these differ from person to person they may account for many of the differences in physiques (for a given level of calorie intake and exercise)
