Klitschko - a disaster waiting to happen?

wow, this could have been summed up in a sentence...Klitschko is very talented but can be knocked out....hmmm...could probably say that about a lot of boxers. insightful.

 

He might not have the greatest chin in the world but it's not bad at all either, it can be called glass when he takes 1 good punch goes down and never gets up, Wladimir always gets up which is enough proof that he has a very good chin.

 

Wlad is a complete all around boxer, groomed by Steward, his jab now is his biggest weapon, if only he has a chinatsch he would be nearly impossible to beat...

Hard to believe , Ross purrity, Corrie Sanders, knocked him out , average heavyweight's, at best..:verysad
And Lamon Brewster a good but not great heavyweight knocked him cold..

I believe he is a disaster waiting to happen.

First off, his last 2 fights were Byrd and Brock. Neither guy presents the sort of style that will ever give a guy like Waldo problems.

Secondly, his third recent match was against a very green Samuel Peter. A guy who had very little amateur experience who was stepping way up in competition. Despite that, Peter still dropped him 3 times and forced the big octopus into a grappling contest where he initiated 96 clinches over 12 rounds to survive.

Waldo has flaws which his supporters will never admit to. He fights a style that is not endearing to a big heavyweight which is too much activity in footwork and too much concentration in power shots. He expends alot of energy trying to keep a fight on the outside, and because of his past, will not fight inside where his fortitude is tested and has in the past, failed.

I firmly believe that had he recieved the proper warnings for holding excessively against Sam Peter, he wouldn't be talked about today. And watch the ******s attempt to change the subject to Peter. The constant grappling, pushing down and shoving off that Waldo does is despicable. Even the former charlatan, Lewis would violate the rules constantly such as holding Michael Grant's head down, while hitting him with an uppercut.

He has a huge size advantage over the relaxed boxers like Byrd and Brock so he has no problems there. But a guy persistent enough to get inside and trouble him will forever give him problems because of his ultimate refusal to fight inside.

Exactly. It is amazing how many on this board know so little. If his chin was so bad, he would be constantly "knocked out." However, Wlad always gets up. I am not saying his chin is iron or even good, but his problem was always technique and coaching. He never knew what to do when he was hit or never knew how to conserve his energy. He fought like a freakin middleweight.

 

I know what your saying...I dont think he takes kindly to getting hit either.

 

The disaster about to happen is not Klitschko being knocked over, that's just old news... If he gets soundly outboxed, that I would consider a disaster and by the way some proclaim him to be what we know that he isn't, the undisputed HW Champion of the World. And he can be outboxed by a heavyweight who can test his fighting heart and let's face it, neither did he prove to have it by getting up from knockdowns against Peter nor did he showed anything but strict professionalism against Byrd and Brock, so who's that one fighter who will test Wlad's heart? I say pick'em in any top HW rankings, stand by that statement and by the one which is that I am not a Klitschko detractor. FULL STOP.

 

:huh You make it sound like it's a bad thing. It's smart. Boxing means to hit and not get hit. The second part is often forgotten by certain people but it's just as important. I guess some people here probably still think a true boxer has to practice the manly art of getting your face punched in. :nut

If the ref had enforced the rules properly this bout, Peter would have been disqualified long before Wlad. What Peter did was a much more serious rules violation than hlding and actually dangerous.

 

Talk about trying to dramaticize a post. Geez! :-(

 

I got news for you Klitco member and chairman. Turning your back on an opponent is also looked down on and admonished. So is HOLDING and WRESTLING.

So add that up. 96 clinches (holding wrestling) and a multitude of occassions where Waldo turned his back forcing a couple rabbit punches. Gee, who deserved to be disqualifed more? :huh

 

I agree, Wlads clinching problem is notch under Ruiz' IMO. Yes, Wlad is disaster waiting to happen. It seems to me and most boxing fans that Wlad is one punch away from going into panic mode, and possibly getting TKOd again.

I think the main reason he uses clinches more now than a couple years ago, is because Manny knows his fighters chin is weak and realizes his fighter would be in grave danger if he didn't clinch. Time will only tell when will see Wlad melt down again, but hoping it happends sooner than later.:yep

 

Isnt boxing a disaster waiting to happen to all fighters ! Emagine how boring it would be if it wasnt ! This post is up there with the VLAD is FLAWED posts ! as if there was ever a fighter that wasnt !:yep
