Oh I think we can forget about Toney getting a shot at Valuev... Valuev will face Chagaev first, and the winner will face John Ruiz again... and the winner of that fight will then probably face Holyfield or the loser of that first (second?) Valuev/Chagaev fight... The situation with the WBA is ****ed up indeed, and it will remain so for the next year at least...
You are right, it will be difficult with Holy and Ruiz already waiting. The winner of McCline - Toney should fight Ruiz and the winner of that fight should get a shot for the title. Meanwhile the winner of Chageav-Valuez should fight Holyfield.
That's the way it should be done, at any rate I'd like Toney to have a rematch with John Ruiz. There's some unfinished business there, that NC is a black mark on Toneys record (although it is deserved, Toney has to thank no one but himself for it). There's some peolple here who claim that Toney only beat Ruiz because of the steroids, we know that's nonsense but it would be a chance for James to prove them all wrong.
Wrong they've just rearranged the press conference : Dan Goossen The Ring Online/ that Arreola was not going to fight Klitschko, and plans to move forward with the scheduled bout with McCline. Goossen will reschedule the Arreola-McCline press conference to next week. That leaves Klitschko in hole a for a credible opponent, or with his back against the wall to make a deal with Haye. The only options that immedtiatly come to mind are Alexander Povetkin and Alexander Dimitrenko. There could be an issue with landing Povetkin, who is scheduled to fight Jason Estrada on April 4 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Klitschko had wanted to fight a lot earlier than the agreed upon date of June 20 [for the Haye fight]. If Povetkin walks away with a win in April, and no injuries, a date of June 20 should not be an issue to fight Wladimir. Dimitrenko's schedule appears to be clear but he is totally unknown to the American public. Povetkin has at least had exposure on HBO, but the network might not be as eager to spend big money on Klitschko-Dimitrenko, which is a good fight, but one that many American fans will probably not watch due to Dimitrenko's lack of exposure on American television. Klitschko's reputation can't afford another opponent like Tony Thompson, Hasim Rahman or a Chris Byrd. The fans want to see him tested against Haye.
Did you even care to read what I wrote???? Unbelievable this forum has gotten worse and worse over the years....
Who knows, with a solid win over McCline a rematch against Ruiz might all over sudden become a possibility again for Toney. As Ruiz will have to wait for at least 9 months to fulfill his mandatory, he will have plenty of time to switch in another fight...
Even in his current state, Toney will school Ruiz again. Look for Toney to beat McCline and Ruiz and get a crack at the WBA title title shot at the end of the year or early next year.
I wouldn't consider a win against McCline a "surprise", but I agree that he better has to show up in the Rahman II kind of shape...
Haye is out, get over it. Last thing Goosen said is that the MCCline-Areola has been postponed to further notice. Goossen plans to make Areola-Wlad now and as a result Toney may face McCline (although that is speculation but still very possible).
The McCline fight won't be easy for Toney. But I still believe that he has enough left in the tank to win against the faded McCline.
you really think that if Wlad comes knocking on the door, team Arreola wont answer?:nut simple question.... Who do you think Team Areolla would fight.... McCline for "nothing" or Wlad for a "shot at the title":huh seems like an easy choice to me:deal
