Say the two Klit brothers were dropped in at a different stage of the last century or so of boxing history, with the likes of Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson prime, Norton, Marciano, Schmeling, Johansson, Johnson, Mcvea, Dempsey etc. etc. How do you think they'd fare against the best the division has ever seen?
Drop the robots in the 70's and they wouldn't do so well especially weak chinned VK, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, and even Quarry would have blasted his ass outta there.. Back in the 70's fighters trained on steak and eggs they didn't have all of these advanced training routines, creatine, andro, fitness counsel etc, no way, Wlads stamina sucks he can't fight hard for a full 15 rounds neither can his robot brother, who quit against feather punching chris byrd...
They should do pretty well in any era due to their size and talent. They might not be champs in some of those eras, but they'd be contenders. Hard hitting 6'6, 240 lb guys like Wlad with quick hands who judge distance well aren't exactly easy to beat, weak-chinned or not.
They'd get spanked in any decade where there were powerful, skilled, dedicated and ambitious heavyweights.
There's no reason that they wouldn't potentially rise to the occasion. In eras past, losing 1 fight wasn't immediately enough to make someone "washed up" or a "fraud" or "exposed". Was Joe Frazier not legit because Foreman matched up well against him? The level of athleticism and willingness to learn Wlad has shown makes him potentially dangerous against any other HW (or smaller) boxer. Sure, he can be stopped -- but now that he's experienced it's a real challenge to do that to him! VK is a tough hombre by any standards -- I think he has a solid chance against any other HW in history. Much as Lennox would have a great shot against any HW in history.
I can honestly see the likelihood of wlad getting knocked out and completely ruined in any other era of heavyweight boxing pre 90's. Vitali could be a big draw and contender in any era
Either brother would be a pick em fight with Lennox. Lennox was not old, nor slow, when Vitali held his own with him. THat's bull****. Lennox was his ususal self, was only 37, and was not very much over his idea weight. Not enough to matter, especially for a mere 6 round fight. All this acting as if its a cussword to even imply the brothers are on par with those listed in the opening post is nonsense due to biased hate for these two guys. Wlad is EVERY bit as good as Lennox was. EVERY bit as good. And Vitali, probably is, as well. And given their size, skill, AND power, they's probably knock the holy hell out of some of those listed. There, I said it.
Confirmed ducking of Haye, not exactly gonna help their 'legacy', is it?: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157439
The K brothers are big fish in a mediocre pond.Since I've been following boxing in the early 70's,this is the weakest era in heavyweight boxing. The Klitchko's aren't on the level of an Ali, Frazier, Foreman,or Holmes.
When was the last time the number 1 (2) heavyweight abosultely dominated the number 3 heavyweight, as much as Wlad did to Chagaev.............? Not since Tyson beat Spinks. Holy, even in his prime, had his big threats, to say the least, as did Lennox......... Wlad was so far above the next best fighter that its not even funny. I can't see how some can't realize that for the accompishment that it is. And its not merely that the *current division sucks*. Maybe these guys are so much better, that THEY are what makes the rest of the division look like they suck. That is certainly a big part of it.
No. Size means nothing my friend and though they are good they would not beat most elite fighters of the past. The Klitschko's are dominant fighters in a the weakest Heavyweight Era in history. Not saying they aren't good but we shouldn't compare them to ATG such as Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Johnson, Louis, etc. because they simply have done nothing to warrant that comparison. Lennox was past his best and overweight, anyone with eyes can see that. He still beat Vitali and that goes to show hoe good Lennox Lewis was. He was able to beat a Prime Vitali Klitschko at 37 while he was overweight.
Vitali yes, Wlad no. In the 90's both brothers would have a couple more losses on their records and they would be far from dominate. Wlad's chin would be exposed more times than Paris Hilton's *****, guys like Tyson, Bowe, and Lewis would have a field day with that glass shield of his.
