I have only started to become really interested in boxing this last 18 months, having had very little experience of watching it before hand. So please don't view this as some sort of 'troll' thread that I see branded about here quite a lot. I do agree with what some say that the Klitschkos aren't the most exciting, and there's no doubt that the HW division is in a real lull period. Like I said, I'm new to boxing so I have been playing catch-up on fights and fighters. But one thing I have noticed is a little difference in Vitali and Wlad's style. I much prefer Vitali as a fighter. He seems to have a lot more confidence than his younger brother, and this comes across in the ring. Vitali will engage more, and seems to throw punches more frequently than Wlad, who is more cautious. Has anybody else noticed that Wlad can be very 'jittery' even against opponents that he could KO in 1-4 rounds, quite easily? Whereas Vitali seems to have a strange smirk, almost as if he enjoys the prospect of beating somebody up and enjoys having someone wanting to beat him. I know they are both viewed as 'gentlemen' and ambassadors of boxing, but deep down I think Vitali is a bit of an animal (in the ring, of course - when Wlad is just concentrating on getting the job done) Anybody understand what I mean? Again, apologies for the uneducated view points and if this has been discussed before at length, I can only say what I see as a newbie. Let me know what yas think! Btw - I would appreciate any fights you would recommend on someone seeking to understand different fights and styles of boxing.
Yep you're spot on. Both nice guys outside the ring, but inside one's a monster and the others a *****. I see youve identified whos who :good EDIT - watch Diego Coralles vs Jose Louis Castillo 1 and Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis
I have seen the Lewis vs Vitali fight before. My take is similar to that of many others - Vitali was winning on points and looked the more energetic of the two. Lewis didn't seem to be in great condition, and was panting after 2 rounds. However, the cut changed it all. Whether Vitali could have continued and went on to win is something we will just never know. Don't they say 'one punch in HW boxing can change everything' (or something along those lines..) and it did that night. A rematch would have been brilliant, and I do think Lewis wasn't keen on taking him on again, cos let's face it he got beat up pretty badly, too. But Vitali took some crazy shots and showed he had 'heart' after quitting against Byrd. Shots his little brother would still not have recovered from I don't think.
If they were Black and from detroit then they would be Gods and HW boxing would be at its highest ... you must look at the fan base to make this call...
No He said the following things that no KBro fan will admit to 1- Lewis was badly out of shape 2- With the cut Vitali was in trouble and the fight stoppage was legit 3- Lewis was out of shape 4- Lewis was landing some monster shots later on. Now every Lewis fan will admit to this Lewis retired instead of rematch Lewis was losing the early rounds If you must be neutral.. THe truth is vitali lost that fight if it had not been stopped. once again this has been talked about for many years. The thing is even the Kbro fans know this. Because I remember early on the complain was 'oh bad stoppage VITALI WAS WINNING FIGHT HE WAS WINNING FIGHT' Then as the Kbro fans watched more and more, the realize oh **** Vitali was going blind he is gonna die if the fight continue. Then it's 'OH NO REMATCH OH NO REMATCH LUCKY CUT LUCKY CUT' See.. I could give a donkey **** if the cut was lucky or not. It was costed by punches and if the fight was not stopped, Vitali lose an eye. The end
TaylorSwift12 - your first and third points are just the same thing. But yes, the cut changed it as said. We don't know for sure if Vitali would have lost an eye, but it was clearly a bad cut that you can UNDERSTAND why a doc/ref chose to stop the fight - the grievance with a lot of Klitschko fans (and to myself to a certain extent) is that it happened when Vitali was winning. It can't and won't ever be changed. I'm sure Vitali is over it by now.
But the eye cut changed everything though. You are a neutral(or pretending to be) either way it's fine by me. So I can have a semi legit conversation with you. I have watched every Lennox Lewis fight. And trust me even in his prime, he will lose early rounds. That's just the way he is. People thought he was in trouble against Vitali, no... he was in much bigger trouble in the early rounds against Prime Shannon Briggs. Lewis was flying across the ring against Briggs. He came back and brutally ko Briggs four times. Same with Bruno. Lewis just adapts and comes back strong in the later rounds. Koing him too. Vitali without an eye injury will beat Lewis that night . But that's stupid to say because an eye injury caused by fists is part of the match lol. Prime Vitali vs Prime Lewis? I still give Vitali 1 win out of 3. Or 2 out of 5. Everyone knows Vitali got a great chin, but I feel prime for prime Lewis will just very boringly outbox him. The only reason that fight was exciting was cuz Lewis was past prime and fat. A Prime Lewis will be very cautious against Vitali cuz he knows he won't be able to bomb him out early, and just jab him to death.
I call bull****, I have said multiple times that the stoppage was legit. You also repeated yourself about Lewis not being in top shape. :yep He wasn't in his best shape but he wasn't that bad either. The truth always lies somehere in between the extremes. I think the threadstarter posted some good, fair points to be honest but I'd suggest he watch some mnore of Wlad's KO's. When WK drops the Steelhammer he can KO just about anyone with a single punch, VK is an accumilation type KO artist that relies on sheer volume, accuracy & punches from weird angles. Two completely different fighters and I'm happy to have been witness to their combined domination of the division.

You are another legit poster, so I will not attempt to troll you like Vladimir. What I mean is he was past prime and out of shape. He really was man. He weighted in at 257... Fight night he was close to 260.. I mean if that's not out of shape what is?
Mr. Speaker, to see Wladimir at his offensive best check out the McCline, Mercer, Austin, Brock, Thompson & both Byrd fights.:good
I mean I have VItali beating Prime Tyson. H2h.. I even had legit reasons to pick Vitali. Do I feel Lewis should have given him a rematch? That's tricky Let me ask you Say Vitali fight Haye later on this year He loses first 2 rounds, (not badly but loses) He begin to come back later on cuz of a cut, making Haye's face bleed like a red gusher. Blood everywhere, Haye bleeding to death and crying (haye will cry btw, VItali didn't cry I know that) Around Round 7, Doctors stop fight TKO7 Vitali retires.. So what? He had a good career. He is old, (lewis was in a lot more wars too) So the rematch **** is stupid It's not like Lewis ducked during his prime in the 90's or early 2000's
