The two extra shots are working both ways. If you look from the point of view of boxer who WANTS to be a true champion, then such contract GUARANTEES an immediate shot at the other belt (Vitaly) or at least a multimillion option for a rematch ... I guess there is nothing in the original contract about the financial aspects of the rematch or the Vitaly fight .... so in reality the followup fight is going to be shared at least as 50/50? So if you think why someone may complain about such deal is that he is not willing to have two difficult but lucrative fights in a row, which makes him at least VERY insecure in his abilities or in the will to be a real champion.
Indeed. Someone who chases fighters around, gets in their face, screams their name to everyone who will listen, prints t-shirts of himself holding up their decapitated heads.... then complains because of a contract to fight both of them.... well that kind of person is a ****. Funnily enough, the unique situation we have with brothers are heavyweight champs does give some different types of contracts. For example, Adamek can sign a contract now, and be guaranteed to fight a Klit, even if one of them loses. Because there are two brothers, this gives them that flexibility to offer cool contracts like that. Of course you wont see any David Haye fans who are willing to concede that. The Klits are both satan etc etc...
Arreola had not problem, Adamek had no problem, Chisora had not problem, Solis had no real problem, Peter had not problem, Brock had no problem, Byrd had not problem, Thompson had no problem, etc., but Haye, he is chicken.
An excellent post and I agree totally but is this unfair? The fact they are writing themselves into each others contracts just supports the idea. Yes, Wlad is the better of the two but they present themselves as a team in respect of their contracts. If two other (non related) fighters did this without fighting each other, there would be an outcry. (And im not suggesting they should fight each other)
i'am a big Klitschko fan from the beginning, but i don't like this stuff, if you beat me you have to fight my brother. on one side it's great because if there will be someone who can beat one Klitschko, then he will fight the other one and we have an undisputed champion with legacy. but the other thing is they are both the champs, and they are the recognized and official champs, so they have all the power to call the shots and contracts. we should be happy that they try to fight all their mandatories.
