You don't have to fight your way to the top anymore & learn along the way with the odd close points defeat & come back with flaws ironed out.

You have to be say a Victor Ortiz clone for ethnic marketing, stroke a Ricky Hatton (WBU World Champion) for UK consumption, promotor with all the connections & monopoly of TV dates, media savvy, & have a 20 & 0 record of KOing cans & you get to be a millionaire the easy way when compared to those of the past who had to fight for their dinner on a regular basis.

No need to learn the finer points of boxing to maintain momentum in your drive to the top when you can employ all the above in todays world, marketing HBO or SHOWtime in order to become considered "elite" because they say so.

 

On top of this, what's the best fight in the Heavyweight division being made currently? This year even? How about the best lightweight fight?

wlad - ibragimov was a much better fight with 2 superior athletes fighting 12 hard rounds of great action with a few punches landed compared to Ali and George foreman where it ended with a KO. they found their target all the time and thats what makes them inferior to those mentioned super athletes of today.

Theres a big difference between white supremacists and just rooting nationalist wise. I'm Irish, I want to see the Irish fighter win, no matter who he's against. I was analyzing myself earlier today, I think if I was English I'd still root for David Haye even though we aren't phenotypically alike. Am I making sense? I don't think this is far fetched; I find myself rooting for the American if its against a non-American whether he's black or white, and if its American vs American I usually lean toward the underdog or Irish-looking guy haha cause thats who I grew up with.
