As much as i like Lewis, he did avoid Byrd. I don't really think Byrd had a chance and the Vitali Klitschko fight gave a million times the excitement, but fact is that Lewis didn't want him. He pulled up an article (3 actually) that favored his "half assed" argument because he was right.

Take your mistake like a man.

 

I mean to say he ducked him when he's fought better comp is quite outlandish its self dont ya think...Why would Lewis duck Byrd when he's fought stiffer comp. than Byrd...Its more like the politics of boxing didnt allow this fight to happen...For whatever reason the fight didnt happen, we will never know the exact truth, but a duck is far from the reason!

Lewis opted to drop his belts rather than face Ruiz or Byrd in favor of facing Grant and a washed up Mike Tyson. Those are the facts. I do not think Lewis was scared of Byrd or Ruiz, but for sure they would have been tougher fights for him.

Lewis went for the money here. Ok--but he ran from a huge payday and re-match with Vitali.
