"LOL You could say many things about Vitali, but coward is not one of them. This content is protected " :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Yep, mentally VITLAY is strong as hell, as he proved against Byrd :nut
That shows his mental ability. To prevent an injury becoming more severe, knowing that he was winning the fight. Shows that his brains are > than the original poster in this thread.
your a ******, its opinionated but not absurd. your hate for the Klitschko's makes you come off as delusional and disturbed by there success. Did Vitali **** in your cheerios in high school or some ****?
I'd respect Vitali more if he ran from Byrd and used his right as a jab. Something he could have easily done.
man this is not the quote of the week dude... This is the failed thread of the week. Log off. Go back to WWE.
Looking back a decade later in hindsight Vitali probably knows that he could have tried that. But, he didn't know how serious the injury was at the time. Sometimes you have to go the safety route especially when it may affect your career.
There is very interesting discussion in this thread in the classic http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=217442 also Vitali said before Lewis he would not quit if he was in the same pain again... he quit that night, pure and simple.
"He doesn't have the mentality of a champion. I cannot believe what i just saw. I have never seen anything like that. Im Speechless. All he had to do was survive. hes way ahead on points. all he needs to do his play defense for 2 rounds, and win the fight.- Larry Merchant
Over in eastern europe they dont have the "Heart" stigma we have in america they approach boxing as more of a intellectual game then a emotional game, when Vitali quit in the Byrd fight because of injury he caught MAJOR backlash from the American media questioning his heart and only then did he learn that the western fan perceived his move not as smart for protecting his career/body but as cowardly. Since then he has commented that he would never quit during a fight again which explains his distress when the Lewis fight was stopped.
atsch of course he quit. Anyone dneying that is a huge ****. Just does'nt mean it wasn't right or that he is mentally weak.
I've seen fighters use their non injured arm. Jesus Chavez fought Erik Morales with 1 arm ALL ****ING NIGHT. You Klitschko fans tell me Vitali couldn't do the same for 3 rounds?
Yes, Vitali quitting against Byrd was terrible; but, Vitali learned from that mistake. He proved as much when he didn't quit while getting his face mauled and butt handed to him by Lennox Lewis
Audley Harrison fought for 9 rounds with one arm last week! Danny Williams knocked someone out with one of his arms hanging off! Quitali could of carried on, he knows it.. the going got a little tough and he took the easy route, and quit.
Yes, Vitali could have done it. It is just the european mentality that is mentioned by the poster above regarding safety first. Looking back there is not much doubt that Vitali has regret about that loss. El Terrible is a different kettle of fish. He could punch Vitali in the face repeatedly for 3 rounds and Vitali's iron chin would still be in good steed.
