The injury turned out to be a torn rotator cuff, an injury that's fairly common in Major League pitchers. Many athletes that get that injury are never quite the same & many have to retire. The injury required surgery to repair. Good thing he quit in that fight right? I mean he went on to become a 2 time WBC Heavyweight Champion. Lewis beat him fair and square. Vitali suffered a war wound from a punch, there is no luck involved in that. That is what you aim to do, punch your opponent in the face and inflict whatever damage possible, and on the other side the aim is to block punches and Vitali didn't do so.
