I definitely wouldn't say Fury schooled him, they were both tentative throughout the fight and only landed cleanly once or twice each. It was a very negative fight, as most of Klitschko's fights have been for the past 3 or 4 years.

Klitschko beat himself in there. If he would have thrown the straight right more than twice in the whole fight then it would have been a different story. Usually he gets respect from his opponent once he lands cleanly, but in this fight he wasn't even throwing so Fury never had anything to fear.

    Wladimir is past it

Fury wouldn't survive 8 rounds vs Wladimir from 2008 to 2012
Fury was great last night but he won't be a dominant HW champ like Wladimir.

I would pick Haye, Povetkin, Parker, Ortiz and Jennings to beat Fury

There's no shame in losing to younger, fresher, hungrier opponents. We also have to assume some sort of complacency has set in within Wlad's camp. They were set in their routine and it has always worked, until last night. I don't think Wlad wants to change trainers in the twilight of his career.

pre-Steward Wlad would go all out on Fury, and either get stopped, or get the stoppage :deal

People are saying Wladimir is past it, and obviously that is true. However, that isn't the main issue here: His gameplan was the issue.

Wlad was a very smart, aggressive fighter pre-Stewart. Manny erased years of amateur excellence and put in simple, effective but limited programming that is now outdated due to the era of giants (Fury cousins, Wilder, Joshua etc). Wlad needs to break free of that deficient, limited plan and adopt one that utilizes his many strengths (footwork, firepower with both left and right, excellent physical fitness). He needs a trainer that would tell him straight up : the old way is not working, you have been on top for 10 years, people KNOW your plan inside out. We need to update your software FFS.

I really think Lomachenko Sr might be the man for the job. Loma junior is one of the most versatile fighters in the sport.

Just no one from the crackhead family please. And no narcisists a-la Atlas.

I agree.... Except Wladamir has devolved from the nearly unbeatable machine perfected by Steward. I like Fury and don't want to take away credit from his performance, but as even non-biased observers like IB have pointed out Wlad looked more poor than Fury looked good last night.

Wlad should have opened up sooner, fight would have likely been a lot different.

You're right. Only there is no OR, he would get the stoppage. Fury wouldn't be able to handle the bombs early Wlad was throwing.

I have everything against Banks, the guy is only good for pad work, he was a pad holder for Manny.

Agreed again for the most part. Wlad while past prime is still very capable, and his poor gameplan/performance was his undoing more than anything else. The Steward version of Wlad beats Fury no problem. With Banks, Wlad has looked worse and worse. His jab has all but disappeared, he's even more cautious, and his output has dropped tremendously. I think it might be time to bring on a new trainer to replace Banks, someone with more experience but still right for Wlads style(not Roach as some have pointed out)

It's too late in the game for Wladimir to switch up his style. He can up his output a little, perhaps, but he isn't suddenly going to become a counterpunching marvel or dedicated inside fighter. At any rate, he had an incredible reign and has nothing to be ashamed of. I'm also 39 and can relate to the physical decline.

I agree a change is needed, he needs to work on the things you mention to get in range of Fury. I wouldn't call Stewards method wrong, it's worked for ten years, but Fury presents a different obstacle. We're just fans, he'll know it himself. The main question for me is Will he have the motivation to do it, is the eye of the tiger still in there?

Look at these sad excuse for boxing fans called Kliturds.

Up until last night 'pre- Steward' Wlad had not yet reached his prime.

Now he takes a loss and that pre Manny Wlad is actually the best version of Wlad:patsch:nut

The version who was destroyed in a round from a contender left over from the 90's era is now the guy to do the job.

The same version who was befuddled and embarrassed by Williamson.

Thats right , the guy who couldn't handle Williamson , is going to beat a far better , bigger version of Williamson.:oops:

I think there's a fairly big difference between Banks trained Klitschko, and Steward trained. Other than age, a bit of decline... Wlads regressed in many ways since Banks has taken over.
