I believe any version of a 6'2 fighter who generally fought opponents smaller than him would struggle with a 6'7 boxer who had a pretty good skillset.

This isn't Primo Carnera, Julius Long or Valuev where the only advantage they have is their size.

You chuck their results into an impartial computer and have it do the math of a 6'2 fighter who was an outside boxer, with very limited evidence of skills on the inside vs a 6'7 fighter who is an outside boxer, who has a good clinch and 25 extra pounds to pour down onto the frame of his opponent before resetting to jab range...

Who do you honestly think is going to win? You can't be that ****ing stupid to believe Ali wins this fight with ease. Maybe Ali psyches out his opponent, plays with his head and somehow finds a way to win, but in all logical likelyhood - the guy who is the bigger, stronger fighter with the better jab wins.

Take Floyd - much faster, sharper and more skilled than ANY guy at Middleweight or Super Middleweight. He'd likely lose to the top 5's of either division solely due to the size difference.

This, despite the fact that Floyd is far more accomplished on the inside than Ali ever showed himself to be.

People all expect Floyd would lose against Williams due to the size difference, yet the same idiots are the ones saying Wladimir would lose to Ali.

    Can't have it both ways.

Same argument is why Lewis beats Ali 9 times out of 10 too.

a "klitschko hater quote of the week" thread needs to get started, because some of the absurd stuff i see written attacking wlad is absolutely ridiculous

Size means nothing in this sport. This isn't Basketball or Football. It's all about skill in Boxing not size. I recommend you watch Dempsey-Willard, Frazier-Mathis, Louis-Carnera.

size means a lot when reach and a decent jab are involved.

of course its not everything (see: marciano, tyson)

but when used like it should be, height can be a great asset

    *size as in height

In some cases yes. But it all comes down with skill like you just mentioned above. "Decent Jab" "When used like it should be". Fighters nees skill to do that.

true indeed. im always embarrased when i see a tall guy squating down and fighting a foot shorter than he should. wlad and lennox both did that before hooking up with manny

like u said, lack of skills/experience/training.

size means a lot when ALL THINGS ARE EQUAL. all things are not equal. ali's jab, chin and movement are so far beyond superior it's not funny. power goes to wlad. combination punching, stamina again, WAY in ali's favour. Wlad has a little height and a lot of weight. otherwise, it's all ali.

Is Wlad better than Henry Cooper, who knocked down and hurt Ali very badly? No
Is Wlad better than George Chuvalo, who had Ali in the hospital and pissing blood from body shots? No
Is Wlad better than Joe Frazier, who beat Ali in the fight of the Century. No
Is Wlad better than Ken Norton, who broke Ali's jaw and Ali had two controversial decisions against? No

Ali was practically unbeatable compared to modern larger HeavyWeights like Lennox Lewis and Vitali and Wlad.

If size means nothing, why do people give **** to fighters like Jermain Taylor for facing Cory Spinks? Or Floyd Mayweather Jr for facing Ricky Hatton.

Carnera, Mathis and Willard are hardly at the level of Wlad, either - in terms of size difference or skillset. Wlad, Vitali and Lennox are the only 6'5+ guys in the history of the sport to be as good, if not better at boxing than the guys they've fought who are 5'11 - 6'4.

It's a combination of size, strength and skills that make those three the hardest to beat H2H of any era, any division.

Watch Lennox, Wlad and Vitali move in the ring - compare it to Carnera. Carnera was size and only size, Willard was considered an oafish giant of a man who was lucky to wear the title (according to Wiki)

    Mathis was 6'3, hardly sizeable.

A good big man will always beat a great small man.

Why should we think that fighters like Ken Norton and Joe Frazier would have trouble dealing with SuperHeavyWeight size and punching power?

Because Joe Frazier had trouble with the only super heavyweight he ever fought in George Foreman. Foreman himself was very slow moving compared to Klitschko and relied solely on his power to get him through fights, he wasn't a technician.

Ken Norton was the same, got blastered out by George Foreman and also had issues with Holmes, who wasn't near the size of Wlad.

If size didn't matter, why was Roy Jones Jr's achievement of being a Light Heavyweight to hold the Heavyweight crown such a feat? And who did he do that against? John Ruiz - himself not a big heavyweight.

    :lol::lol::lol:

Ever see Foreman vs Norton, Ernie Shavers vs Norton and Cooney vs Norton ? Norton was nearly killed in all of those fights. The only fights he has had poor showing was a against Larger HW's who absolutely blasted him early. Norton fought great against Ali and Holmes, but when he got hit against big punchers, he folded.
