...................and I think that says a lot about Wladimir's ability since the division is diverse if nothing else. You literally have boxers of all ages, sizes, shapes, colors, levels of ability as well as from practically every corner of the world.

I just wish whoever has the four belts would fight each other already.

I also wish that older boxers such as Holyfield, Rahman, Bowe, Golota, McCall & Tua would start fighting guys in the consensus top 10 instead of trying to get title shots by beating up on a lot of nobodies. It's like why are they "tuning up" against these level fighters when they have plenty of experience already?

    Agreed on all points...

It definitely says a lot about Wladimir's abilities. Everybody looks to have the potential to beat anybody on any given night when you look at the division other than Wladimir. To me, head to head, he is an all time great heavyweight. Not in terms of his actual resume, but simply based on ability.

Yes, we do watch Wlads fights from the edge of our seats, but he ain't prime Tyson, that was pure edge of your seat drama. Not biased, not hatting just telling it like it is. Wlads 'edge of your seat' is more based on the fact that he is always one good shot from being dethroned, like it or not - and yes I accept that some people felt the same when they watched Lewis.

I can't argue with any of that.

When was the last time Bowe fought though??

Wladimir doesn't thrill fans consistently throughout a fight the way Tyson did or Holyfield did, but he has the physical advantages and tools to make some fights look easy. He can stay on the outside and use his sledgehammer jab thanks to his height and reach.

Yes, his chin is shaky and he is certainly not KO proof, but his talent and effectiveness is good enough to beat any fighter in the division.

    His power is thrilling though!

All true, including the part about Lewis. I think Wladimir & Lennox have a lot more in common than just a trainer.

I honestly believe that Wlad gasses out, and he had a history of doing that even before the Brewster fight. I do remember both Mercer and Brewster delivering some good body shots, wether that had its effect on Wlad I dont know. You also got to remember Wlads like 6'6 240 who throws alot of power punches, especially at that time, the combination of all that is bound to get you tired.

I just remember Roy Jones saying something like "Brewster needs to keep hitting him with them body shots, then Merchant said " Wlad doesnt have a glass body, he has a glass chin Roy.

Isn't he still active? Well the rest sort of are. I can understand Tommy Morrison fighting stiffs on his comeback trail or even Mesi since the bleeding brain thing and all but if they plan to get title shots for those weak efforts a la Rahman & Holyfield than this sport is ****ed beyond repair.

Wladimir has always LOOKED like he was in shape but in the early days he did a lot of weight lifting & not a lot of road work. Manny said something like that in an interview once. If you look at his upper body especially you'll notice he is a bit more lean now like a true boxer should be.

There is definetely some truth to the fact that larger power punches like Wlad or Lewis have stamina issues also. Lewis was known to tire late in fights and only throw punches in short bursts to conserve energy.

I think I checked boxrec not long ago to see what was happening with Riddick and I'm sure he hadn't fought for a while.

Just checked again and yep I was right he hasn't fought since April 2005. He's 40 years old now and most likely 320 lbs+. Shame cos just like Tyson he had it all.....and supersized himself into bolivian

Yes, with the help of Manny he has really been able to control his punch out put, and limit throwing alot of his power punches early. Now early in his fights he seems to take control of the fight with his jab, and then in the middle rounds he will start to incorporate his right hand into the mix more.

Manny seems to run the show now, if you listen in the corner you will hear Manny tell Wlad start putting wieght into your punches, which means put more power behind your punches. Manny really is the perfect fit for Wlad IMO.

The sport isn't ****ed beyond repair, I think boxing is in great shape.

The heavyweight division is ****ed, but not beyond repair. Your guy might be the guy to repair it, the jury is out. If not someone else will come along soon enough. As long as there's millions of $'s in the prestige of the heavyweight crown there'll be no shortage of dedicated kids trying to get there.

The sport in general is as good as ever from what I can see.
