I mentioned simply because he is durable and hard to knock out in response to that Rico guy saying how Peter hasn't had knockouts in most of his recent fights.

McCline is barely top 25-30 but he is big and hard to KO, actually read what I said :good

I'm not saying Peter is a great fighter or even a very good one, I don't think he is. But it's very hard to KO Toney, McCline, and Hawkins. Disputing that shows your insane bias

You just make sure you are around here to take it all in, on Oct 11th, when Peter is reduced to a what happened to him? type fighter who slowly drifts into obscurity. Vitali destroys his confidence and takes him out, after four years of inactivity, and does so with supreme confidence and authority.

    He knocked Maskaev out handily...

He lost to Wlad a long time ago and at a stage in his career that he had NO BUSINESS fighting Wlad. We'll see what happens in their rematch now that Peter is more seasoned.

He beat a HOF James Toney twice... giving him a boxing lesson the second time around, the FIRST and ONLY boxing lesson anyone has ever given Toney.

He got KD'd 3 times with a ruptured eardrum and still came back to win a decision. Pretty gutsy performance in a fight he had a week and a half to prepare for. And it was not a "gift". Every boxing fan had him winning that fight you moron.

Go play in traffic somewhere, please. :hi:

Peter is far from a great fighter and the people who have him in the top 2-3 are wrong, but he takes more **** than he deserves here. He knocked out Maskaev, beat Toney, and beat McCline who actually showed up to fight. Not the resume of a legend but enough to put him 5th on my HW rankings, he has power and is tough.

Chagaev, Povetkin, and Valuev deserve to be ranked above him. Povetkin you can possibly put below Peter on virtue of Peter being in with the best though. Chagaevs resume eclipses Peters pretty easily, wins over Virchis, Ruiz, Valuev are impressive. Valuevs wins over Ruiz, Barrett, Liakhovich also put him above Peter.

Head to Head they all defeat Peter in my opinion. They are more skilled, all durable enough to withstand bombs and would outpoint him fairly easily.

But my point was that Peter is dangerous and he deserves to be mentioned among the divisions best.

That said, Vitali's status is mostly based on word-of-mouth and one memorable loss. Danny Williams is the most inconsistent world-class fighter today and put on a terrible performance, Corrie Sanders is garbage, and Kirk Johnson forgot to bring his fork. Peter's boxing skills are not noteworthy, but they are better now than they were vs Wlad. His chin is strong, not iron, but strong, the knockdowns from McCline have a reasonable medical explanation behind them.

Vitali hasn't fought in 4 years and is highly injury prone, the pressure is well on for him to show up for this bout. I doubt he will pull out over a minor injury, it has to be something severe for him to cancel the bout, his reputation is on the line. He may well fight through a minor, undisclosed injury to save face.

The betting lines opened even and I put a big wager on Peter, thinking he would soon be a 2-1 fav. I was wrong, the lines are still virtually even.
Peter wins this by knockout, rounds 6-9. Vitali's punches are predictable and slow, the punch Peter sees is the punch he walks through. The punches that trouble him are quick, accurate hooks and uppercuts he doesn't see coming, Vitali isn't at Wlad's level in that aspect. Neither Peter nor Vitali have the footwork to create angles or sidestep each other's attack, which means both men's punches will be predictable and met with a clenched, prepared jaw.

Im not very confident in this and will buy back most of my bet, but I will have to eat the juice if I can't catch Klit +130, which it seems I won't. I may consider Peter by decision at amazing odds like +1000.

I'd appreciate some feedback from the more inteligent, unbiased posters here, who follow the division more thoroughly than I do. I've never cared for either of these guys. I won't name names, but you guys know who you are, ive complimented you in the past. This is a tough one to cap.

No offense, but the majority of this thread is fan rallying and vague comments like "if Vitali is 60%, he wins". How the hell are you going to measure that? It would be nice to have split threads, one for reasonable and accountable predictions, and for one everything else.

Didn't know this: Peter is good friends with former boxer Lennox Lewis. Lewis beat Vitali Klitschko in his last bout and has given Peter tips on how to beat him.
