Cisco I agree that there was a very good case for Vitali being the #1 but conversely there's a strong case for Wlad so therein lies the debate...

I loved watching Vitali fight because he seemed to enjoy punishing the other fighter especially if they tried to get under his skin...I always thought Wlad had a much higher skill set

A fight between the two would have been incredible but I can't fault them for not fighting...My twin brother and I fight all the time for free but we don't hit as hard as they do lol

I'm open for having the debate as to who between the Klit sisters should have been #1. However, since they didn't fight each other, there is NO debate to be had whatsoever that the Lineal title remained vacant until Vitali retired and Wlad fought the leading contender besides himself. Everyone talking that Chagaev nonsense is deluding themselves...

    :deal

Hence, Wlad has only defended the HW title TWICE. Louis' and Holmes' records are in no danger of being broken..

GENE TUNNEY took the lineal title to his grave.

Joe Louis won it from a guy who did not fight in two years!

In modern terms, when the title is vacant and #1 fights #2, a new lineal champion is crowned.

I'd argue that hes made up to half a dozen defences.

when the competition needs to stay shy of a retiree (who failed to even get near a shot at the title in his prime during the lewis era) for fear of being wiped out in seconds.....theres no danger at all to joe and larry.

Holmes record doesn't relate to lineal defences, but to defences since the sanctioning body put a strap around his waist. At least not in the world outside the one TS seems rooted in. And Wlad will break that record.

    Creative angle, though.

AS far as im concern, all the federation have Wlad as the man with 17 consecutive defences. So you can cry as much as you want, you wont change anything.

Not a chance. His resume is far weaker than lil bro's in an already weak era. Wlad has fought most of the divisions best fighters, Vits didnt.

Vitali may be active in your dreams this year, but not in reality.

You are actually making me look more clever than I really am by totally ignoring the context of those posts and who they were aimed at and responding to them with such passion.
