I know it was for free on HBO in America.

But how many PPVs would this fight generate on PPV?

Fans in the US were pretty hyped for a Heavyweight Fight including two Euros.

    What do you think?

Well, HBO had around 3 million watch the fight.
Now, it's not really "free" in America, because HBO runs $15-$20/month.
Of course a lot of people already had HBO, but some like myself subscribed just for the fight.

Let's guesstimate and say 15% of those who watched would have paid for the PPV. That would be approx 450,000 buys.
10% would have been, obviously, approx 300,000 buys.

It would have gotten 4 ppv buys in the U.S.

So 3,000,000 people watched it on HBO...but only 4 would have purchased the PPV? :huh

I think if you care enough about a fight to watch it at 3:45 in the afternoon, on Independence Day Weekend, at least 10% of those viewers are likely to purchase.

I don't think 1 out of 10 is unrealistic.....(could be wrong though, it's just my guess, I don't have any statistics one way or the other).

Two foreign fights, middle of the afternoon, $50-60 to watch. What a trainwreck that would have been.

no one i talk to who likes boxing from die hard fans to general public didn't care to watch this fight I know a coupple of buddies watched it because they had nothing else todo. personally i watched it the next day because I was bored and sick. i could barely watch the sad display of "fighting" (I call it fighting because, neither guy was doing anything close to boxing).

Man, how many idiots were crying for a dominate champ after LL . . . what was really needed was a higher level of skill after the LARGE void LL left behind. Instead we get that ****. I am glad HBO has abandoned this crappy division and i hope they stop showing it for free because it still eats into their budget. They need to focus on quality divisions and quality fighters

Your entire post leave me: :huh

HBO has said they were very happy, and that it did great. 3 million viewers in the middle of the afternoon on Independence Day weekend. It did great.

    PPV in the USA?

The toe -tal numbers would have been disappointing.

I live in Canada . . . lol. 3mill for a free heavyweight fight is really weak, it should have been double that atleast. if I or anyone I knew had to pay for that **** it would have been zero. to say it is a earoepean thing is wrong because my whole crew went to see the LL-bruno fight

There was lots of interest in that fight all over the world. Vitali/Arreola fight was HBO's top rating of the year!!!!!!!

does that include the amount of people who watched it on tape delay or recorded it to watch later? I was in a wedding so I recorded the fight and watched it immediately after the wedding before the reception...I assume many people may have just recorded the fight to watch it later because of the afternoon time it was live
