Although it's quite different, specifically in the fact that it wasn't two chinny knockout artists, it might be a bit like Bradley/Alexander. In that it's the meaningfulness of the fight more than the potential entertainment value. Hardcore fans demand it, casual fans would be hurt if they were drawn in and got something distasteful like a bad decision or a stinkfest. If Haye retires on a bad decision, Wlad will be the number one heavyweight again, and if he wants, he'd probably go on to establish his own lineage in the eyes of boxing history, for a second time, bitterly.

 

Worst outcome would be one that isn't deserved.

If one fighter knocks the other out - that's fine. The only bad thing would be a **** decision, DQ, stoppage etc where one of the fighters or the fans are left feeling robbed.

I can't be worrying about how the division will fare afterwards. We've been asking for years for a huge heavyweight fight and now we've got one - and it's going to be huge.. All I want to see is the man who was better on the night with his hand raised at the end - no controversy.

 

Well Holyfield thought that he woud retire right afeter 30 years old! Asked afeter 1st Bowe fight what is his plans he said he will most likely retire and been thinking about that even before Bowe fight no matter what the result would be!

You are correct, both parties have said no rematch clause, i'll find it and link it for you.

However 1 thing that is interesting is that it does not specify that it will be wlad in the contract.

How come a while back Haye wanted to only fight the guy he coud defeat ie Wlad and now he will fight both, no problem?

Sounds like 'this is my final cashout fight' to me.

If all goes well for 'The Hayemaker' on June 25 or July 2, the 30-year-old would then love to bring the curtain down on his career by beating the second Klitschko brother and unifying the heavyweight titles.

That will involve more negotiations though, as Boente says they have only signed a one-fight deal for the summer, although even he admits that Haye would likely fight the second Ukrainian before his intended retirement this autumn.
