So forget unification......that means continue to have four seperate titles..............and that means that each fighter will have to fight undeserving mandatories, cause the available contenders are strewn out over four seperate organizations.............and that means, more and more meaningless fights...........which is what you are slamming THIS fight for being. :good So see, once again you contradict your own veiw by negating this unifying fight, in favor of somethiing else. This is getting too easy.
I want to see Wlad fight Chagaev who is a champ, while being a tougher oppenent than Sultan. If Wlad/Chagaev fought everyone would be happy, instead we have lame ass heavyweight like Sultan fighting Wlad. From the reports I heard he doesnt even want to box anymore, so it sounds to me that hes just making this fight as a retirement package. I want to see the best possible fights out there, Iggy/Wlad isnt one of them. I think your just happy because Wlads fighting yet another walk through oppenent, wow Wlads amazing hes going to unify and beat the weakest title holder.
Once Wlad has two belts, he will be much more attractive to fight for someone like Chagaev, much higher potential gain. Whilst this fight will not be great, it should spark the division into some action.
I don't know how many of you guys are aware of the siginificance of the date on which they are going to fight. February 23rd is a old traditional Soviet holiday, the so called Day of the Defender of Motherland, or the Army Day, or the Men's Day. It's like the opposite of the 8th of March (the International Womens' Day, also widely celebrated in the ex-soviet states), and equally significant. Wlad lost to Sanders on the 8th of March, the Women's Day. Wlad is going to fight Ibragimov, another southpaw, on the 23rd of February, the Men's Day. I hope he's not supersticious.
:good Yes. Again, its not about fighting the weakest titleholder. Its about fighting ANY titleholder. That's all that matters, is unifying ANY two belts, cause it has to start, somewhere. Chagaev is not available right now, anyway, as he's getting over his illness, and will fight Bindenko, or whomever, next. So I can't understand Punisher's beef with this fight. Unification is what its all about, not how competitive the actual fight will be. Cuase once you get a unified champion, you will then get MUCH more competitive opponents to challenge that champion. You gotta look at the big picture in this, not just how competitive or not, this particular fight may be. Think more longer term, than just right now. That's Punisher's problem; he don't think past the very next fight. But you gotta look beyond that, when something this great is about to happen. I will gladly watch Ibrag get his ears beat off, if it'll mean the start of the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD finally being determined.
Why is it Klitschko's fans always assume that his opponents will just stand there like a deer in the headlights and get hit? Isn't it possible that one of them might actually move a little bit?
Not like a deer in the headlights......once they get caught with that left hook (and they will get caught, moving or not), they are more like a deer shot by a high powered rifle.
Wladimir is the rightful leader of the heavyweight division, ain't nobody stopping him right now, he's the man. Actually, I hope Wladimir has the top dog spot for a long time, he's a legend.
I give credit to both fighters also. It's about time! I wish more fighters would fight on regular HBO or Showtime rather than PPV. I still remember the good ol' days where you could watch HW title fights for free on regulat TV. It's hard to pay $4.95 to watch Tua vs. some journeyman when I used to watch Forman, Ali & Frazier on free TV.
I agree, its just too bad hes fighting Sultan, who has average power and lacks the aggression needed to beat Wlad or at least make the fight competitive.:dead
